Meet Stephanie Gomes of Stephanie’s Sweet Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Gomes

Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for baking starting back in high school, I loved baking for my friends and family and seeing how much they enjoyed it made me think I could do this as a career one day. I didn’t know where to start or even know how I would do this, so I delayed it for a while. I realized after I graduated college that my passion for it was still there and decided to finally go for it. I started my business 8 months ago and haven’t looked back. I started selling my products to my community and received so much love. The journey was tedious, but the reward is great.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definetly has not been a smooth road for me to start this business. I struggled for so long to find time to bake. I was working all the time and managing my household it became overwhelming. There never seemed to be enough time in the day to devote to my passion. When I did make time, there were recipes I would try that would not come out the way I would hope. It can be disheartening. The biggest factor was I didn’t know how to run a business. I had to figure it out along the way. There was a lot of trial and error, but I knew with a lot of patience and practice, it would be worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am an at home bakery service in Jacksonville, Florida. I provide bake goods for my community all over northeast Florida. I bake everything from scratch from cookies, to cupcakes, and custom cakes for any special event. I am mostly known for my cookies I sell when I do markets or pop ups. People see my pink tent and know I’m selling delicious cookies. Such as classic chocolate chip or white chocolate Biscoff. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I have no limits when it comes to flavors and combinations. When a customer tells me they want something different I come up with new recipes to see what I can do for them. What I want the readers to know about my business is that I love what I do and it shows in my products. I am proud of every creation I have made throughout this journey.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Honestly, I just watch a lot of YouTube videos about baking and decorating. I love watching preppy kitchen and Asia Coffee. I am always on there when I want to learn something new.
