Meet Laura Bogen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Bogen.

Laura Bogen

Hi Laura, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First, thank you for having me; I’m excited to share this unique line of work with your readers. I can say without a doubt that I consider my occupation in holistic wellness to be my ultimate passion and calling. However, I didn’t realize it until I went pretty far down another path, getting my law degree and pursuing that profession because it was expected of me, though not personally fulfilling. Rather than viewing that time as a waste, I’m grateful for it because once I found the thing that made my blood sing, the difference I felt between these two paths was visceral and made the decision-making easier. That said when I first came across the concept of past life regression therapy, which is the primary focus of my healing practice, the immense pull I felt to learn it was fierce and undeniable in such a way that I couldn’t help but move towards it.

The only other time I felt such alignment with an idea or undertaking before that was when I was very young and unburdened by the reality of living life with the weight of responsibilities. I believe what is most fulfilling for people will remind them of things that enthralled and fulfilled them as children. For example, a child obsessed with building blocks might find herself quite satisfied pursuing such endeavors as construction, architecture, design, or problem-solving later in life. It may seem obvious, but we tend to forget these parts of ourselves as we get older and start looking for answers externally, through comparison to our peers, for example, rather than within.

I often end up telling this story during sessions or when holding group workshops because I come across many people who are where I was 10 years ago – burnt out or unhappy with their career or other life choices, yet not quite sure how to go about making change to move towards a happier, more fulfilled existence. Looking back, I can see how everything I went through had to happen so that I could embody my current role in a way that would be most useful to my clients and the people seeking my services. Often, this takes the form of helping reacquaint people with their intuition, which can sometimes feel like untangling one of those old spiral phone cords to create a more functional connection.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The transition from my old lifestyle to this more intimate, mindful path has had varying challenges, mainly concerning my mindset and realizing that the lens through which I was taught to view life did not agree with the core of who I am. For example, how I was taught to define success had more to do with my bank account and job title and very little with feelings of fulfillment, joy, or peace. Many mixed emotions emerge the further you dive into self-exploration and discover that so much of the way you think, behave, react, and respond to relationships and situations are social constructs you were taught to essentially “perform.” It can be overwhelming when you begin peeling back layers to realize that you have been on autopilot by adhering to specific patterns and habits picked up at a young age to be accepted by your family, friends, and society.

It is truly a liberating experience, and while many would describe it as a journey to find oneself, I would explain it more as a journey to return to oneself, like a reunion or a homecoming. It is the road that is less traveled and comes with risks and consequences. For many, these consequences look like disconnecting from friends or loved ones who no longer align with the new version you have evolved into. Many people leave jobs, move locations, and experience many other changes on their path to live authentically. And all I can say is that the rewards have been—and continue to be—worth such risks.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a practitioner of past life regression therapy and other alternative healing modalities, I am humbled almost every day by the trust my clients have in me to hold space for them. There is a level of vulnerability required to undergo hypnosis, past life regression, or even guided meditation, and I take this very seriously at a level I would consider sacred. I understand how challenging it can be to want to get to the bottom of a deep, often lifelong, emotional issue, knowing it will need to be revealed (to your hypnotherapist or practitioner) to transform or release it. That takes guts.

As someone whose privacy is a top priority, I consider it an honor whenever someone entrusts me with any information from their inner world. The level of trust and vulnerability necessary for a successful session is why I started a YouTube channel (@lightwisewithlaura). Here, I create educational videos and original guided meditations that are free for anyone to use. The benefits of guided visualization, whether a past life regression or otherwise, can be priceless, and everyone deserves the chance to experience them, especially those who may feel nervous or not ready for a one-on-one session, whether remotely or in person.

Another avenue one may experience this phenomena is through one of my monthly group workshops. Some people do better in group settings, and it is always a fantastic atmosphere where like-minded people with curious souls can gather and discuss their insights. It usually just takes one brave volunteer to share something for others to join in and express their findings. It doesn’t matter if someone is entirely new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner; everyone can come away with profound guidance and an unforgettable experience.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any essential lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Despite the chaotic turn all our lives took during the pandemic, there were many silver linings to be found. Regarding my work, I had to learn to conduct all my sessions and groups virtually. It was a little challenging initially, but ultimately, it opened the door for international clientele with more access to my services than when I conducted in-person sessions only. This period is also when I decided to nurture my social media presence, which has grown to a heart-centered community of more than 45K across TikTok, YouTube, and Meta. It has been a surprising example of how positive things can come from dire circumstances.
