Marcello, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began in New York, where I initially pursued skincare and makeup. However, I soon realized my passion lay in hairdressing. Upon relocating to Florida, I dedicated myself to honing my skills; I enrolled at Paul Mitchell School Jacksonville to obtain my cosmetology license.
Building a loyal clientele base became my focus, and through active participation in community events, I earned trust and recognition as a local hairstylist in Jacksonville Beach. At Sophia Avera Salon and Spa, I’ve found my professional home, continuously refining my expertise in color techniques and hair extensions through ongoing education and dedication to my craft.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While my journey has been rewarding, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Transitioning from skincare and makeup to hairdressing required perseverance and adaptation. Building a clientele from scratch in a new location was daunting, and it took time and effort to establish trust and credibility within the community.
Additionally, juggling work demands and ongoing education while striving for perfection in my craft presented its own set of obstacles. Also, being a dog dad is the best challenge yet! However, each hurdle served as an opportunity for growth, ultimately contributing to my development as a hairstylist.

As a hairstylist based in the vibrant community of Jacksonville Beach, working at Sophia Avera Salon and Spa feels like home. My journey from New York to Florida has been defined by my passion for helping people look and feel their best.
Specializing in color and extensions, I pour my heart into every client’s hair, striving to create personalized looks that reflect their unique style and personality. I’m most proud of the deep connections I’ve formed with my clients over the years. Being entrusted with their hair is an honor, and I take great joy in bringing their vision to life while maintaining the health and integrity of their locks. What sets me apart is my dedication to excellence.
Yes, I’m a perfectionist, but I’m always hungry for knowledge, constantly seeking new techniques and trends to elevate my craft. Beyond hairstyling, I’m deeply rooted in the Jacksonville Beach community, actively participating in local events and building genuine relationships far beyond the salon chair.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is defined by hard work and resilience. It’s not just about achieving specific goals but also about the effort and determination you put into pursuing them.
Success means continuously pushing yourself to grow, being open to trying new things, and never giving up, even in the face of challenges or setbacks. Ultimately, it’s about finding fulfillment and satisfaction in both the journey and the destination.
