Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Zumot.

Paula Zumot

Hi Paula, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey began in the Caribbean and unfolded in America when my parents boldly moved toward a brighter future for my siblings and me. At just 7 years old, navigating life in NYC felt like entering a new world—I grappled with fitting in and adapting to an entirely different culture. My parents faced challenges, yet they taught us that giving up was never an option. With that unwavering mindset, they guided and supported us through life’s transitions. In a pivotal moment on our journey, I witnessed the fruits of my parents’ hard work, perseverance, and dedication when they purchased our first home. Despite numerous barriers, their relentless pursuit of a better life became the bedrock of my identity. Their commitment became my compass from then on, steering me through life’s twists and turns. It’s the backbone of my identity, propelling me to where I am today.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Growing up, the struggle to find my place among cultural groups was a profound part of my journey. The language barrier, preventing me from speaking English, left me feeling isolated and unable to express myself. It made me an easy target for bullying, and even when faced with challenges, I found myself unable to communicate and seek help. My older sister emerged as my beacon of courage in those moments, fearlessly confronting bullies to shield us from harm. Her bravery was a source of inspiration that I deeply admired. As time passed and I started to grasp English, a voice began to emerge within me. The journey of discovery fueled a passionate thirst for knowledge. With few friends, my dedication to learning became a sanctuary. However, this choice unintentionally intensified my isolation from peers, subjecting me to labels. Despite the hurdles and the names thrown my way, I remained steadfast, true to the resilience my parents instilled in me—a testament to not giving up, regardless of the challenges I faced.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the proud owner of Zumot Realty, a dream brewing within me for a lifetime and finally blossoming into reality. As a devoted mother of three, I put this dream on hold to prioritize raising my family. The sacrifice was never a regret; instead, it became my source of motivation to evolve and progress. As my children grew older, I finally nurtured this long-awaited dream. Returning to school, I earned my credentials as a licensed Real Estate agent in 2018. As mandated in Florida for new agents, I embarked on a two-year journey with a local brokerage. During this time, I operated under the umbrella of Single Agency, a distinction that set me apart. Unlike many agents in Florida who function as transaction agents, I provided fiduciary rights to my clients. This commitment included complete confidentiality and loyalty, ensuring my focus was always on promoting and advocating for their best interests rather than merely closing transactions. Fast forward to 2023—the experiences, training, and countless successful transactions inspired me to elevate my education and business. Taking a significant leap, I sat for my Broker Exam in 2023 and did it! In that pivotal moment at Pearson Vue, I had a flashback to our family’s journey, recalling my parents’ words: “Never give up.” I felt a deep sense of pride and honor to carry that resilience. Now, here we are in 2024, and the possibilities are boundless. I am beyond eager as I meticulously plan my business and life goals. 2024, here I come! Thanks, Mom and Dad, for instilling the invaluable lesson of perseverance in me from a young age.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
I want to share my story with those just starting on their journey. There were times when I had to press pause on my dream to raise my family, but I never let go of it. The sacrifice became the driving force behind my eventual success. If there’s one thing I wish I knew when I was starting, it’s the incredible strength that comes from dreaming. There were moments when it seemed easier to give up, but holding onto my dream and staying true to my goals and my parents’ words of “never give up” brought unimaginable fulfillment

My advice is this: Don’t be afraid to take detours or temporarily put your dreams on hold. Life has its timing. What matters most is always working hard on what truly matters to you. Every step, every sacrifice, and every setback is a part of your unique journey. Embrace it, learn from it, and let it fuel your determination. Whether facing language barriers, cultural challenges, or simply navigating the intricacies of a new endeavor, remember that resilience is your greatest ally. Cherish the journey, draw inspiration from your experiences, and, most importantly, keep moving forward. Your goals are worth every effort, and your dreams await you to bring them to life. So, to anyone starting, hold onto your dreams with unwavering determination—2024 awaits your success story!
