Meet Lia Croke

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lia Croke.

Lia Croke

Hi Lia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started getting into makeup at a young age. I wanted to cover my acne and feel more confident. Soon, my friends and family started asking me for help with makeup, and I realized it made me very happy to be able to share my talents with them. It’s so fulfilling to help others feel more confident! I went to a makeup artistry school, and after finishing there, I got my esthetics license. I love this industry so much that I can’t imagine ever doing anything else!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would love to say that it has been a smooth road, but it certainly took a lot of hard work and determination. At the beginning of my career, there wasn’t any social media around, so it was necessary to go out and network and advertise. Social media has been so great for sharing my portfolio of work. Very grateful for it! Another challenge I’ve had to overcome is learning the business side of things. I consider myself an “artist’s mind,” so I definitely had to work on gaining skills around business, numbers/taxes, tech stuff, etc., to own my own business. That definitely doesn’t come easy to me!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed makeup artist and esthetician specializing in bridal, editorial, and commercial makeup. An esthetics license has helped me guide my clients to care for their skin, which is important. I’m most proud of the kind and calming reputation I have built over the years. I pride myself on treating my clients to a calm and pampering atmosphere. Things that set me apart from others are my style of makeup – a natural glamour that is timeless, not trendy. Each client is unique and special to me. I am not an artist that pops quickly in and out of the room. I like to get to know my clients in our short time together. This helps me in creating the perfect look for them.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Treating my clients with kindness and respect is very important to my success. I listen to each client to learn about what type of makeup look they are comfortable with. Asking questions about likes and dislikes is so essential. You have to listen!
