Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Hopkins.
Hi Monique, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Posh Events and Rentals is a family-owned and operated rental company. We started with a desire to provide design-forward and unique rental pieces for the Jacksonville area. I have always loved design and parties so much that my friends and family would have me plan and design their parties and celebrations. The idea started when I was planning and designing my parent’s 50 wedding vow renewal celebration. At the time, we lived out of Florida and had a tough time finding the right rental items to help celebrate them. We ended up booking items 3 hours away, the delivery fees were outrageous, and the delivery was late. My husband and I were like we can do better than this. We can provide stylish items reasonably priced, so we created Posh Events and Rentals. We leveraged our backgrounds (I am a certified interior stylist, and home staging, business analysis, website design, and project management, and a bachelor in Decision Science and Management Information Systems) and (my husband’s military background in logistics, recruiting) and in just 3 years we are rated #6 in the 10 best rental Jacksonville rental companies (by WeddingRule).
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth; we struggled to find the right location. We faced a lot of no’s and closed doors when trying to secure a suitable space. We even put cash down to buy land and were told they could not sell it to us because they could not get a clear legal description of the land survey. But we kept moving, renting out our products, providing our clients with the best service, and making the best out of a challenging situation. We decided to keep searching and chose to locate our company in the historic district of Green Cove Springs, and it has worked well for us.

We always love to hear about our products and that the quality is excellent, the condition of the items is always clean, and the style is unique. We pride ourselves in being different; it is part of what makes our work special and unique. A lot of thought is taken into curating products from all over the globe. We bring the pretty.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Luck has not played a role in our business. We believe in God and that his favor has helped us get to where we are thus far. We have been blessed to provide rentals to places from top venues, top planners/designers, Harper’s Bazaar-rated top photographers, government leaders, and baby showers.
