Conversations with Nargiz Kattner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nargiz Kattner.

Hi Nargiz, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child, I started making jewelry and other handmade bags. Also, I have started to learn foreign languages like Russian and German Turkish. I can speak 6 languages fluently and write. I grow up in a low-income family without a father. Because my mum worked so hard, I thought I would not follow her steps as she did. I thought to be a billionaire.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it was tough. Back home in Kyrgyzstan, I had to work from age 7 in the market and sell homemade bread till I started earning my own money and left first as a student at age 18 to Turkey. Near my school, I had to work as a nanny in our flat and in day school to prepare. Also, look after my younger sister. If I did something wrong, my mom punished me, and once she broke my teeth because I forgot about my sister, and she made her socks dirty. Till age 16, I was abused. That’s why at 16, I started to take English classes to go to University and escape from my country because my mom was going to force-marry someone I didn’t know. Also that time, we had forced marriage with kidnapping.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
