Today we’d like to introduce you to Lo Langone.
Hi Lo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, and have been creative for as long as I can remember. My father owned and operated a local sandwich shop in Jax for over 20 years, which I was very involved in until my early 20s, influencing my decision to pursue my own small business. I graduated from UNF in 2018, traveled a little, and worked in the service industry. Like many other creatives, when the global pandemic hit in 2020, I had more time for creative endeavors. My boyfriend and I had just moved into a new home when the pandemic hit, and I was obsessed with decorating our new space. I found resin home decor online one day and realized making custom coasters, trays, and more would be the perfect addition to our home. The first piece I ever made was a set of coasters. After a bit of practice, in 2021, I set up the Instagram that I have today and began selling online, primarily to friends and family. After a few months of successful online sales, I realized I could grow even more by becoming involved in the local maker community in Jax. In 2022, I focused on community outreach to various pop-up events and art markets. Meeting people face-to-face to share my pieces and building relationships with other local vendors has been one of the best parts of this journey. Currently, I am working on larger decor pieces like crystal embellished mirrors and scheduling markets for the summer.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge has been the balancing act of still working in the service industry while also running my business. Some weeks are calm and organized, while others are hectic and stressful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My goal with Flow by Lo was to offer beautiful, functional decor. My pieces are unique and customizable and can also be used in your everyday life. From vanity trays to organize makeup, skincare, and jewelry to coasters for the living room, patio, or office, there’s something to help you “Find Your Flow,” as I like to say. Customs are also a large part of my work, including pressed wedding floral pieces and custom wedding gifts. My pieces make heartfelt gifts or special keepsakes. My best-selling pieces right now are floral-inspired pieces and my mushy jars.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as loving what you do. By truly enjoying the good and challenging parts of your life and accepting that you can make your life what you want, it is true success to me.
