Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafi Friedman. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Rafi Friedman is originally from New Jersey and spent a decade living in NYC before moving to Jacksonville in August of 2022 when he purchased Coastal Luxury Outdoors. Rafi began his career as an investment banker in NYC, working at Citi and Oppenheimer. Following that, Rafi spent a few years as a private equity investor with Waterfall Asset Management. Having developed the entrepreneurial bug for quite some time, Mr. Friedman decided to launch his private equity firm, Carl Capital, in May of 2022. Rafi’s strategy focuses on partnering with service-based businesses that can provide recurring cash flow. Rafi purchased Coastal Luxury Outdoors, which provides swimming pool maintenance, repair, and construction services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Moving away to a location with limited friends and no family is always challenging. I’ve found the greater Jax community to be extremely welcoming. From my colleagues at Coastal Luxury Outdoors to neighbors in my community, everyone is joyful to lend a hand.

I left my job in April 2022, uncertain about my next steps. My goal was to purchase a company and take over as President, but exactly which company still needed to be discovered. I’m fortunate to have partnered with an amazing team and couldn’t be happier I moved from NYC to Jax.
