Hi Amanda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am a Saint Augustine local, and started my eco-tour agency about a year ago. Six years ago, I was going through a depressive postpartum period after I had my son. I remember lying under him for hours, and I thought of all the time I’d wasted in my past not truly living my life. At the end of the day, I believe we are left only with our memories. During those silent hours feeding my child, I realized I wanted more memorable memories for myself and resolved to take action. I started waking up earlier to watch the sunrise, which motivated me to fill my soul through hiking, kayaking, camping, and loving our planet’s simple pleasures. The loneliness I felt during that postpartum period was washed away by the peace nature brought me. While on the water, I found inspiration to share this newfound serenity by starting Wild Sol kayaking adventures so that others might experience the healing nature of our world’s elements.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m a small business with five kayaks, so the journey has been pretty simple so far. I enjoy meeting my clients while helping them find adventure, but, like any voyage, there have been some choppy seas. Creating marketing material within a budget is a struggle; however, I’m in no rush. I unapologetically flow at my own pace in hopes of creating a harmonious resonance that mirrors the tranquility found in nature.
