Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Swint

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Swint.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Jacksonville, FL, and have lived here my whole life. I’m a Terry Parker Alumni as well as a Jacksonville University Alumni. I got my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2021, and  I am currently working on getting my Master’s in Leadership and Learning from Jacksonville University and will graduate in the Spring of 2023. I credit all my success to God because I would not be who I am today without him. I also attribute a great deal of my success to my parents, who taught me that in whatever I do, to finish through and to finish strong. I’m thankful for the many youth groups I was involved with growing up because through those groups, I met women who helped inspire me to have a go-getter mindset and to see that anything is possible when God is involved, and when you keep him first. In 2016, I started my first business, Organically Jessica, where I create natural hair and skin products. I started my hair and skin company because I wanted to use 100% natural products on my hair. I always knew that black men and women’s hair could grow, so I researched and formulated a product that worked for my hair. Shortly after using the products on my hair for some time and seeing results, other women and men in surrounding areas, as well as in Georgia and South Carolina, began to like my products; from there, Organically Jessica was established.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
I have grown and learned along the process of becoming an entrepreneur. I’ve learned that sometimes it can be a challenge being the CEO, marketing team, and event coordinator all at once, but I’m still thankful for this experience because it has taught me that not only am I capable of knowing how to run a business, but that I will know how to do this if I am the only one who has to run my business. I’m blessed and fortunate to have the drive that I do because if nobody shows up, I’m going to be there. I am someone who believes in myself even if others don’t get the big picture. I’m thankful that although I’m a go-getter, I’m not afraid to listen and continue to learn from others who have been successful. I know that “whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48), so although some days can be a challenge, I know I can succeed.

Please tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others.
What sets me apart from others is my drive and ambition. People who know me best will say that one thing about Jessica is she’s going to make it happen. When I have a goal or vision in mind, I plan and execute it. It may require me to stretch, but that’s how you grow, and I have learned a lot by being willing to stretch to reach my goals.

Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is knowing that I am fulfilling my life’s purpose at the end of the day. I like knowing that I have accomplished more than what I had the day before at the end of the day. Whether it’s a personal goal, a challenge, or just going out to celebrate a small victory, it gives me joy knowing that life is so precious and that if we take the time, we can find the beauty in it all.
