Conversations with Ceci Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ceci Loves.

Hi Ceci, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m delighted to be here with you! Thanks for your interest!

My story story to loving and supporting and witnessing others in their growth stems from my own years of unease in and with my body. I have traversed a challenging pathway, speckled with various ailments including:

  • Dysmenorrhea
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Alcoholism
  • Spiritual rupture
  • Prolactinemia

Western medicine had provided only limited solutions, so I had very little faith in it, despite my being the daughter of an RN (who placed unwavering trust in her field). Unwilling to believe I was condemned to a life of misery and pain, I spent over 20 years seeking and finding relief.

From herbalists, iridologists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, meditation, 12-step programs, Gestalt therapy, yoga, nutrition, and “body whisperers.” All these magical beings and valuable resources contributed to the wealth of wisdom informing my daily choices.

And, I desired a still fuller connection to myself. I’d worked with my iridologist for 10+ years when she introduced me to Emotion Code. The result: an 8-month miracle of regained health, after which she said: “You must do this. You have a natural gift for this work.”

Through Emotion Code, new pathways opened. I’ve continued to add expansive modalities to my journey with myself and others, including embodied movement, stones & crystals, aromatherapy, meditation, and others.

My lifework is: To love and honor each person who invites me to join their journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, heavens! That is such a good question. In the AA blue book, there is a passage about looking for an “easier, softer way” and how that didn’t exist. The thing is: the road is always more difficult when I try to go it alone.

The reason AA works, the reason any of my modalities work, is because they are done in the community. Even if there is just one other person involved, the way becomes smoother and less lonely. And if the companion has traveled at least part of that road before, it is much less scary.

So, the journey to creating Ceci Loves Me has been smooth – if somewhat circuitous. And that is what makes it so potent. I’ve taken lots of turns and learned so much along the way.

And the biggest learning: Do it with someone! Find the people who have been there and go with them. This is one of the reasons I prefer to consider myself a witness or a companion rather than a “coach.”

The immense power of being witnessed with love and empathy is beyond measure. Thankfully, my road has been dotted with various generous, loving, and compassionate witnesses!

Thanks for sharing that. So, could you tell us a bit more about your work?
A keystone for me: Integrity. Not in the sense of highly moralized. Rather, in the sense of integrating beliefs and actions.

One becomes more integrated when one lives with integrity in one’s beliefs. This is my guiding principle, and always with love.

When I speak of love, it is not always the gooey, smoochy stuff. It can certainly be that! And, as one of my teachers says, “Love is wet.” This means that while it can be gooey kisses and other bits of lovemaking, it also includes tears. Tears of love are compassionate, sad, ecstatic, grieving, laughing, stern, and so much more. Love is wet. Every single thing that is wet is love. Rain is love and causes growth. Blood is love and can be birth as easily as death.

I situate myself firmly within Integrity and Love. I hear the thing beyond the words spoken and offer an integrated and loving perspective to help people create what they wish: better health, stronger business, firmer boundaries, more passionate relationships, etc. And then, I listen from this grounded space of Integrity and Love and offer insight, intuitive awareness, and perspective.

While I draw from many techniques and experiences, including 12-step programs, Gestalt therapy, and tantric meditation practices, I am also a certified practitioner of the Emotion Code.

The Emotion Code is an energy healing technique that helps us identify and release trapped emotions- harmful emotional energies from past adverse events. Trapped emotions can cause depression and anxiety, block people from love and happiness and make them feel disconnected from others. And because trapped emotions are made of energy, just like the rest of the body, they influence the physical tissues and can cause acute pain and even cancer. Releasing trapped emotions makes conditions right for the body to heal- so physical and emotional difficulties often disappear or become much more manageable.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
My most important lesson is that “Everything is an experiment.” This is one of the 7 principles of the tantric lineage which I follow. All 7 principles are really built upon and within each other, but this is the one that has most influenced me.

If everything is an experiment, I can do nothing wrong. Thus, I can let go of shame around the alcohol abuse if I view it through the lens of I was conducting a very long experiment. I’ve run that experiment and have amassed sufficient data to know what the outcome will be for me. I don’t need to run that experiment again.

When I listen to clients, one of my favorite prompts is: “I invite you to experiment with” Making it an invitation is less threatening and becomes a co-creative experience. This ultimately enhances their agency within their own lives.
