Rising Stars: Meet Jay D$nero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay D$nero.

Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was born and raised in Jacksonville on the north side of town and graduated high school from Paxon school for advanced studies. Currently in college at Florida A&M University. I’ve been singing since I was a little kid, but I began rapping in my first year of college (2018). After recording my first song, I fell in love with the process and kept on recording songs until I began recording and mixing my music in 2021.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth at all; many long nights of working and studying music and other artists, having to come out of pocket to invest in my music, and going through life itself and losing loved ones. I thank God for the whole process because it is just conditioning me for when my time comes.

Please tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others.
My name is Jay D$nero, and I am a musical artist/engineer. I make all types of music from all genres: rap, hip-hop, R&B, rock, alternative, spiritual, and many others. I am most proud of being able to learn different aspects of music and not just being a consumer. What sets me apart from others is my authenticity and versatility. I can put my spin on each genre and create something meaningful and worth listening to.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like Jacksonville because it feels like home. I grew up in Jacksonville and had family on just about every side of town. I like how Jacksonville is diverse and has a growing music scene. It’s not too much that I dislike about Jacksonville; I feel there could be more unity in our city and more helping pull people up instead of pulling them down.
