Today we’d like to introduce you to Cronin Clothing Co: Antonio Pontigo, Emmett Gideon, Luke Jackson, Stewart Gideon, Christian Castetter, and Grant Jackson.
Hi Cronin Clothing Co., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started Cronin Clothing Co. with the simple idea of creating shirts we wanted to wear. In 2020 our original group consisted of four of us; Antonio Pontigo, Emmett Gideon, Luke Jackson, and Stewart Gideon. Shortly into our venture, we rounded our team to what you see today, with Christian Castetter and Grant Jackson joining Cronin. Over the past two years, we redefined the purpose of our company: to create clothing we still want to wear, but with designs that capture the essence of our hometown of Jacksonville. In our recent history, we made our inaugural in-person debut at the Jacksonville Bicentennial Celebration, have relaunched our website, and added some new designs to our collection that we’re excited about!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge for us along the way was to find our mission. Cronin Clothing Co. started as a fun side project to make some shirts that we thought were cool. However, over time we realized that we could do more with this and decided to try to get our name out there and challenge ourselves more with the designs we create. With designing shirts that express your artistic vision but also incorporate the soul of Jacksonville, there’s a fine line to walk to ensure you’re doing justice to both. We try to be as collaborative as possible to ensure we’re executing on that combined vision, and we hope everyone loves the results of our efforts!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We like to think of our work as graphic design. The designs we create have elements of different disciplines like illustration, typography, and printmaking, and we try to combine those elements into a cohesive image. We are most proud of the concepts of our designs. We are not satisfied with simply rendering an iconic landmark or icon, but we like to create designs that honor notable Jacksonville features in fresh and interesting ways.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
We are extremely welcome to collaborate! We think that is at the heart of what we want to do. We want Cronin Clothing Co. to be something that reflects Jacksonville. We are very excited to be in the early workings with some local non-profit companies, which will announce more in the future!
