Check Out Jonelle Paulette’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonelle Paulette.

Hi Jonelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I fell in love with eyelash extensions in 2017–I was pregnant with my first child at 19 and had two jobs. I wasn’t making much money, so I decided to teach myself how to do my eyelash extensions in 2018. It all started when I graduated from beauty school with a license in Facial Specialty. After working every job in a local salon for almost two years, I discovered a talent within myself. I could run a business and provide a service; I quickly scouted a space of my own to open Luxe Ritual Aesthetics. I did all of this as a single mom at the time with no college degree, investors, or credit cards.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not been a smooth road. Growth isn’t always linear. Every aspect of my business was, at one point, a struggle for me. I develop all of my products. I provide the services. I work at the front desk, customer support/scheduling, manage the website/email, manage social media, etc. In doing all this myself and more, I have gained an incredible amount of valuable information about owning and operating a salon business. Education doesn’t stop. Now, I provide educational courses on my services through Luxe Ritual Aesthetics Academy. I will soon be traveling the world to share my experience and talent in the beauty business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in eyelash extensions. It’s an art form in that you must create a look that compliments your client’s eye shape and face. Every lash you place must look a certain way, be placed a certain way, and have the correct amount of adhesive. As professionals, we look for all of it; every lash matters. Performing the service is a tedious process that involves adhering one false eyelash to one natural eyelash, creating longer and fuller-looking eyelashes. You must be extraordinarily patient and have steady hands. As for me, I am known for incorporating Russian-style volume and technique into my already amazing sets. My sets are very structured and neat. I am most proud of myself for being able to offer educational courses and teach women/men exactly what I do and how I do it through Luxe Ritual Aesthetics Academy. What sets me apart from everyone else (other than my unique style and technique) is that I am very upfront and honest with everything I do. You can’t compete with me because I want to see you win, too. And this is the turn we need to see in the beauty industry.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Educate yourself. Learn from others who have already done it and are willing to share it with you. That is the number one best advice I could give.
