Meet Taylor Ann Drew, APRN of Aquarian Clinic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Ann Drew, APRN.

Hi Taylor Ann, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Taylor Ann Drew, APRN, RYT 200; I am a nurse practitioner, yogini, and both owner and founder of Aquarian Clinic, Inc and CaliFlo Yoga Collective. Aquarian Clinic is a Direct Primary Care practice in Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Florida. DPC is a new model which offers unlimited primary care, preventative and urgent care services for a low monthly subscription ($89/month in our case); think Netflix for healthcare! Opening my clinic was a dream come true. I had been working in health care for over two decades and it was obvious health care wasn’t delivering patients the care they both needed and deserved.  Fortunately, in 2020, a law was passed in Florida, allowing advanced practice registered nurses to practice independently in primary care practices. When they passed the bill, I immediately leapt at the opportunity and opened Aquarian Clinic. We have been beyond excited about our rapid growth, our expansion to Jacksonville, and the positive response from both communities. Our partner Shane Grindle, co-owner of Aquarian Clinic Jacksonville had built an incredible DPC practice in Jacksonville (formerly Integrative Med Group).   We were fortunate enough to acquire his practice and then add new services, expand technology and now members can be seen in both Jacksonville and Tallahassee! Each practice focuses on primary care, preventative care, mental health, weight loss, BHRT, IV therapy and overall well-being.   Our team is passionate about making health care accessible, affordable, and inclusive to everyone, regardless of insurance status.

I am originally from Tallahassee, Florida; I attended the University of Florida and then Vanderbilt University for my Master’s in Nursing. I lived in Colorado, California, and North Carolina before returning home to Tallahassee, the community I know and love. I worked in community health, surgical, and hospital settings before realizing that I could be the change I wanted to see in the healthcare and wellness systems, so I decided to open CaliFlo Yoga Collective; then, less than a year later, Aquarian Clinic. My six-year-old son, Nash, is my world. I want to show my son what hard work and perseverance look like and that I can be his mom and a boss lady, teaching him the sky is the limit and to reach for the stars!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is finding balance. One thing we learn in the practice of yoga is to balance. Every day I have to check in and ensure that all my cups are filled. Creating a balance of mental, emotional, and physical energy is imperative for a healthy, functional life. I practice this every day. I am so thankful to have yoga to help me sustain my balance.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Aquarian Clinics are Direct Primary Care facilities in Jacksonville and Tallahassee that provide comprehensive, continuous care covering primary/preventative family medicine, acute/chronic care, and more. What really sets us apart is the direct access a member has to the provider via our HIPPA compliant texting app.  In addition, our proprietary app allows patient not just the ability to message the provider, but access their medical records, reorder prescriptions and set up appointments all on the patient portal, all on the phone or online.  We offer healthcare at an affordable, accessible price ($89/month), with no co-pay. No insurance is necessary.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
