Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanna Marshall.
Hi Tanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved connecting with women and helping them overcome their problems. So when people began coming to me for advice many years ago, feeling stressed and blocked about everything from their health to relationship issues, it felt natural and fun for me to help them. Little did I know that listening to others and sharing my knowledge would lead me to the work I’m doing now. A lot of this began when I was diagnosed with lupus at 15. After being on drugs that made me feel icky, I decided there must be a better way to feel good and be healthy – so I began researching health and wellness. I have studied, researched, and tried many alternative therapies and natural remedies – and I am happy and proud to say that after over 35 years of doing this work, and with a major shift in my mindset, I healed myself. So empowering! A few years later, a new world opened up to me when I went to work at Capitol Records. During my first week, a co-worker turned me on to Louise Hay’s book,You Can Heal Your Life. I have been addicted to studying personal growth, spirituality, and self-improvement ever since. The most powerful tool ever shared with me was the teachings of Abraham-Hicks and the Law of Attraction, given to me by another boss and mentor (and now a good friend) at Capitol. This amazing knowledge has enabled me to attract miracles into my life, big and small – great friends, ideal jobs, vibrant health, perfect homes, and work I am passionate about. I now love helping others to attract what they want, whether it’s great health, a new job, more abundance, or their perfect partner.
In addition to finding some of my closest friends and Soul Family, the most amazing thing was finally attracting the romantic relationship I had always wanted. I am now happily married to the man of my dreams, also from Capitol Records. After spending over thirty years studying and absorbing all this amazing information about self-help, personal development, spirituality, holistic health, and the Law of Attraction while working in the corporate world of the music business, I decided to gather all this knowledge and write a book to help people everywhere deal with their daily stress, improve their health, connect with their spirit and learn to relax. Living Peacefully in a Big City: A Guide to Maintaining Your Sanity, Health and Happiness was published in 2009 and has received rave reviews for the help and support it has provided to its readers.
An unexpected turn in the road to honor my father’s dying request, I moved in with my mother after he passed away in 2003 and became Mom’s full-time caregiver in 2010. I learned so much from this experience and considered it a blessing and a gift to have this responsibility, even though it was a daunting task at times. While caring for her, I applied all my knowledge and experience as a Holistic Health Practitioner to my mother’s care in dealing with type 2 diabetes, dementia, congestive heart failure, and arthritis. Although she slowed down quite a bit toward the end, she enjoyed a happy, healthy life in her last few years. Mom passed away in April of 2018, at home, comfortable in her bed, just the way my father had requested and the way she wanted to go. Now we are both moving on to our next life.
During these past few years, I had to take better care of myself to handle the continually increasing demands on my time and energy with my mother’s care. This experience inspired me to write a holistic program to teach other caregivers to take care of themselves first. I also share my practices that were incredibly beneficial to my mother. The Enlightened Caregiver: A Holistic Care Guide for You and Your Loved One is now available in paperback and as an ebook.
Now I am still practicing self-care daily as I help other women do the same. As my friends and clients keep reminding me, I must practice what I teach. And speaking of self-care, I cannot emphasize the importance of taking care of you and ensuring you put your well-being first and have fun in your life. As adults, we often forget how to have fun. We worry we it might appear immature or unproductive.
On the contrary, having fun will keep you young, healthy, and inspired! I go to Disneyland as often as possible as part of my regular wellness routine, and sometimes I take my clients with me to remind them how to experience magic as an adult. I am thrilled that I can now serve more clients in my one-on-one coaching and in the Infinite Woman community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road – difficult childhood events, abusive, narcissistic family members, diagnosis with lupus at 15 – but they all contributed to who I am and the work I’m doing now, so I’m grateful for the experiences.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I do transformational empowerment coaching for women with one-on-one clients, with groups in my Infinite Woman community, and through the programs I’ve created.
I specialize in teaching women how to embrace their power and gain the confidence to put themselves first, set healthy boundaries and create a supportive Soul Family who will be there for them as they make these changes and deal with potential pushback from people in their lives who do not like the new, “selfish” version of them. Eventually, they learn to forgive others who have not honored them as they transition to stand in their power and live the life they want, unapologetically, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
I’m known for supporting and inspiring women to take these steps and make themselves a priority, specifically in my “Overcoming Nice Girl Syndrome” program. This is the foundation to build the confidence that allows them to utilize more spiritual, woo-woo practices like the Law of Attraction and access the power of their minds and emotions to create what they want. This program is what I’m most proud of because I’ve found that it’s what many women – primarily 50 and over – really need. And because I’ve done it myself, I understand it can be a difficult and stressful journey. But it’s been well worth it while standing my ground and becoming more confident in myself, my power of discernment, and doing it all with love for myself and those I’ve had to step away from. Now life just keeps me getting better and better. Most importantly, this work is always done with love for myself and everyone involved, with as much fun as possible.
In terms of your work and the industry. What are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
I see women becoming more prominent in every aspect of life on this planet. We need all the support we can get, especially with current events continually taking away women’s rights. Whether a woman wants to go out to march in peaceful protest or go within to strengthen her energy to send out more love to make the positive changes she wishes to see in the world; each needs to be fully supported in their chosen form of positive influence. I feel women must have a strong foundation of other supportive, loving women for social, professional, and spiritual connection. There is nothing like the powerful feminine energy of women coming together to support each other, and this connection needs to be created, nurtured, valued, and appreciated. I believe that eventually women will rule the world, and it will be a beautiful, loving, peaceful place for all.
