Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Woods.
Hi Dan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been active in sports and I am a very competitive person. In high school, I participated in a number of teams including: football, baseball, and track. But I excelled in swimming and wrestling. I served in the US Navy as a Rescue Swimmer. After the Navy, I remained active in road races and triathlons. In 2015 I completed my first Obstacle Course Race (OCR) and I loved the experience of training and racing on obstacles. Most Obstacle Course Races are either in the mountains or in the mud, but living and training on the beach inspired me to start my own races on the beaches of Florida in 2019.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting an event company just months before COVID was terrible! Most events were canceled last year, but being in Florida, we were able to hold 3 races which was a big win for us.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
There will always be roadblocks and setbacks. Use those challenges to help grow your business. You have to be flexible and pivot without compromising your vision.
