Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra L. Taylor.
Hi Sierra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
October 18, 2000, I lay in the hospital bed with my legs propped up. Nurses are at my side as they are instructing me to push. This occurred the day after my 14th birthday. I prayed that I didn’t have my son on my birthday. God honored my request. A baby having a baby is what people labeled me as. As bad as that stung to hear, it was the truth.
Imagine that! I didn’t have a clue what life was about. Soon enough I would find out. You’ve probably already judged me but I assure you, my son wasn’t conceived under normal consensual circumstances. The ongoing trauma seemed to never end.
Now if you wondering what that has to do with me, just keep wondering. I’m not sure but hopefully, you can find some strength by hearing a little part of my story. From a dysfunctional home, multiple relational issues, divorce, and a canceled engagement. Yes, I canceled it. And please note that I don’t have any regrets. Every invitation shouldn’t be taken, and that includes marriage. That’s another topic of discussion.
Today I stand proxy for the women that don’t have a voice of confidence. Confidence is deeper than how we dress, our social status, and outer beauty. Hardships don’t define you in life but they reveal what’s inside of you.
Serving others through encouragement, empowerment and enlightenment is what I do by default. I speak to a woman’s inner beauty. The Exquisite Hair Boutique is a hair/beauty business created by myself to serve women. We provide top-quality hair extensions and natural hair care products. My heart’s desire to speak to women across the world and let them know healing is available in every area of their life. I love to see women transform into who they were created to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is this a trick question lol. Absolutely not. Some struggles include being a teen mother, low socioeconomic status, lack of resources, being raised in a dysfunctional home and not knowing my Identity.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The foundation of my work ethic includes preschool education and customer service. I obtained my CDA credentials and Directors Credentials during the 5 years of my time in that field. Transitioning to customer service/ Corporate America allowed me to develop leadership skills, and organizational skills along with implementing processes and procedures. I’ve served as technical support, billing and internet support. After joining the help desk I was quickly promoted to an SME. Due to my experiences, it allowed me to serve as a supervisor for the IRS stimulus project.
What does success mean to you?
Success is defined by a person’s individual core value system. I define success as overcoming every obstacle that was intended to keep me confined. That includes educationally, financially and morally.
Success isn’t just about money. Success is defined in the dictionary as a favorable outcome. This statement is individualized to a person’s individual situation.
