Daily Inspiration: Meet Bama Andy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bama Andy.

Hi Bama, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I dealt with some sexual assault trauma as a teenager, & even attempted suicide 1 time. Then as a young man while in the Marines I went through more traumatic stuff & turned to alcohol. I became a hardcore alcoholic thanks to my “demons”, as well as just being a Marine. (Most male Marines definitely drink). I also kept bottled up the dark thoughts inside of me due to the mental abuse my Mom had been going through for years, especially the fact of being cheated on & such. I knew deep within that one day I was going to utilize my unfortunate experiences, & my love for others to help people. Over the last of 10 years or so, I’ve utilized the name of BamaAndy on social media, & became a voice for others. I’ve utilized my platforms to help raise money for people (an example would be a mother whose 21 y/o son committed suicide due to bullying on TikTok. I personally raised over $1K to help the family with expenses in a short time). I’ve communicated with battered women who felt they had nobody to turn to, & helped them get out of those terrible situations. I’ve especially become closer to the youth in the last year or so, as I’ve strived to lead by example, & help steer them in a direction towards Christ. I’m now an Ordained Minister, & utilizing my platforms to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, & offering Christian Counseling, Baptisms, the opportunity to Marry couples, etc. I feel God gave me all of these opportunities to “be a voice” for people who feel they don’t have one, & to witness to lost people. God loves you right where you are, & so does BamaAndy!!! Without Christ I am nothing, & I’m so blessed to be where I am today. I truly believe I’ve been called to work with people, especially the youth, & show them that it’s ok to be a human & make mistakes, but the love of Christ never stops & He’s always there for you. Due to my living a spiritual life, I strive to love ALL people the same way.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. As stated in the previous section I’ve dealt with sexual assault trauma, attempted suicide once as a teen, battled demons with all that as well stuff my Mom was going through, became a heavy alcoholic, etc.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a truck driver. I’ve been trucking for almost 8 years, & take great pride in delivering our country’s goods. I’ve worked in many different fields including carpentry, plumbing, payroll & accounts payable, to receiving, & more. I specialize in loving others the way Jesus loves us (or strive to do so).

My biggest accomplishment/what I’m most proud of would be at the age of 37 when I truly surrendered my life to Christ, & strive to live for Him, & strengthen the Kingdom of God. A close second would be when I defeated the alcohol addiction 9/6/14. Almost 8 years COMPLETELY alcohol-free. Not even a drop!

Although I’m often judged for being a white southern man who believes the Bible, is a conservative man, who even has a “rebel flag” tattoo on his forearm, I still love people right where they are, no matter what their sexual, religious, or life preferences & choices are. No matter what my beliefs are, I still know that I am (like all Christians) called to witness to others, love the sinner but not the sin, to forgive, to show grace & mercy as God does for us so often, & to just be there for them. Love is what this cruel world needs, but we have to recognize that even deeper than that, Jesus is love & He is what/who we need!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I utilize social media (although many people are against them) to reach people, & be there for them so I’d say TikTok, Insta, Facebook, Snapchat, TruthSocial, & Twitter. The absolute biggest app that helps me is YouVersion/TheBible App. There are sooooo many great devotionals, &. Bible studies within that app. HIGHLY recommend!
