Today we’d like to introduce you to Connor Overbay.
Hi Connor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Connor Overbay, I was born right here in Jacksonville and have gone to everything from elementary school to college here. So far, I have received my associate’s degree in liberal arts, and I plan on working towards getting my bachelor’s degree in business. My parents divorced when I was five years old which was definitely a big event in my life and, while it did hurt while I was young, I look back on it and believe it was for the best as it also instilled a good work ethic in me because I watched my newly single mother and father work their hardest to get their lives back on track and take care of me all at the same time. Even though that was a rougher part of my life, so many good things came from it, now both of my parents have found new partners who are amazing and who have taught me many things as well. I’ve always had a passion for talking to people and always wanted to hear their life stories, with this passion I wanted to turn this into my own business and that’s how my podcast came to fruition. The name of my podcast is “Who Are You?” it takes you through the life of me the host and my different guests each week, we talk about how they chose their professions or their passions and everything in between.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely not an easy road in the beginning; I had never worked with any kind of audio equipment before I started the podcast. I have had to teach myself about audio equipment and how to set it up, make sure the different equipment is compatible, I had to create my own logo, and find a hosting platform that would have the tools I need and would not break the bank. Once all these things were figured out it comes down to just coordinating times and dates to meet with my guests each week and making sure I do some background research so I can have some questions prepared.

This is an interviewing/storytelling podcast that will take you through the life of me the host and the different guests each week. each episode I will have a new guest that is here to explain how they chose their profession or their passions and what obstacles they had to overcome to be where they are today. By doing this, I want to help get information out in the world about different paths that people took in their lives and show that there is always a way to get to where you want to be. With this podcast, I am also trying to give people who are doing great things in my city a platform to tell their stories and to also help promote their businesses/organizations.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have two favorite childhood memories, my first one is always being in the kitchen with my dad. He was the one who taught me how to cook for myself and I still have a love for cooking to this day. My second favorite memory is when my mother and stepfather took me to pick out our family dog, Boomer, a black and white Bosten terrier.
