Conversations with Bri Asarie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Asarie.

Hi Bri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Bri Asarie and I am the owner of Asarie Artistry. I’m a licensed MUA & Brow Artist. I started doing makeup when I was ten years old, initially as a hobby.

After I graduated high school, I studied cosmetology at FSCJ in 2015-2016 and received my cosmetology license. I offered hair and makeup services but eventually transitioned to makeup and brow services.

I worked a variety of different jobs, including Beauty Depot and Ulta Beauty, before I went full time in 2019. Today, I have my own salon in the southside area of Jacksonville!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for a total of 7 years, and it has definitely been up and down!

In the beginning, I struggled to find my place in the industry. When I transitioned to a full-time artist, the first few months of building my clientele in a new location were stressful, also with the competition in Jacksonville.

But I stayed true to my craft and with consistency, I began to grow. COVID also affected my business greatly at the peak of the pandemic. I had to shut down for two months and almost lost my studio, but luckily, I was able to open back up in time to keep things afloat.

I’ve faced many different struggles, but I always remain optimistic and lifted in prayer. The obstacles have only made me stronger!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed cosmetologist, I specialize in makeup and brow artistry. I am known for my soft/natural glam style of makeup, sharp/beautiful brows, and also my professionalism and customer service.

I’m most proud of my success at a young age, 25 years old with my own salon!

I feel what sets me apart from others is my level of passion for my artistry, my motivation and drive to get up & keep going even when I get discouraged, and my energy & positivity!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Within the next 5-10 years, I plan to have a successful cosmetic line and my own makeup store, catering specifically to black women, but women of color in general!

I also plan to work with celebrities and travel the world, sharing my knowledge and artistry with other up-and-coming artists & entrepreneurs.
