Community Highlights: Meet Madison Wilson of Convergence JAX Coworking

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Wilson.

Hi Madison, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Madison Wilson, I was born and raised in the heart of Jacksonville, FL. I attended Bishop Kenny High School and moved on to a trade career where I became a Certified Dental Assistant.

I graduated Valedictorian of my dental assisting class and continued in my career for almost 2 years. My mother Christina is the COO of Convergence Employee Leasing (a locally owned PEO) and has been with the company for 14 years.

The owner of Convergence Employee Leasing, Jacob Nobles, decided in 2019 to turn the lot they owned next door into a coworking space. 2020 is when they broke ground on construction. When my mother, Christina, said she needed a special person to manage their sister company next door (Convergence JAX Coworking) I knew it was my calling to be at her aid.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although I was not a part of the team during the foundation of Convergence JAX Coworking, I was a close family member. This meant I was often informed of the troubles the companies went through during COVID.

It took a lot longer than expected to get to the Grand Opening because of the many obstacles from supply and labor shortages.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Convergence JAX Coworking held its grand opening in January of this year (2022) and I joined in February as the Administrator. My role in the company is to welcome new members, and organize the supply and demand of the company, while also managing our on-site café.

Convergence JAX Coworking offers a variety of working spaces such as an open area with long tables for collaborative working, quiet nooks with couches, four private cubicles, and conference rooms with video meeting capability. One thing that makes us unique is the fact that we have an on-site cafe, The Grind Cafe. This means that our members don’t have to leave the premises to power up with some coffee or lunch.

Our cafe is quite creative, so you might find a “peeps shake” during Easter week or a customizable breakfast sandwich. One of the goals for our coworking space is to really foster a collaborative environment. We want our members to be able to truly interact with each other. Otherwise, you are losing out on the “coworking” aspect of a coworking space.

Our plan is to offer networking opportunities, fun events like Food Truck Fridays, educational sessions, etc. We’re also really excited about an app that we offer to our members where they can create business profiles and interact with each other within the app almost like a miniature LinkedIn.

Our coworking space is perfect for the young professional that is currently working from home and craving some interaction and collaboration with other people that are in the same boat as them. Those that tend to gravitate towards utilizing coworking spaces are usually people in marketing, graphic design, website design, consulting, freelancers, startups, and people working remotely at large corporations.

People can sign up for either a day pass if they only need to use the space sporadically or they can purchase a monthly pass. Both enable them to use our open coworking spaces and cubicles. They can also rent out one of our two conference rooms or use us as their mail service.

We have a variety of different options and can usually find some sort of package that works for each member.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
As far as collaboration, we are looking to partner with or host business networking events, community groups, etc.

So if you are on the board for any kind of local group like that and need a place to host your event or meeting, please reach out to me. In regards to supporting us, the best thing you can do is to help spread the word about our space.

Follow us on social media and invite your friends to do the same. Our social media handles for Facebook and Instagram are both @jaxcoworking For more information about us, please visit our website at www.jaxcoworking.com.
