Big Monsta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born & raised in Indianapolis, IN on the west side in a neighborhood called Haugh Ville. I am 1 of 8 siblings and we are all gifted. Growing up I always loved being outside, playing sports, drawing, & most of all. I LOVE music. My family raised me in church & I am a Christian.
Blessed to say that I have the gift of gab & I am a prophet so writing music came to me easily. I’ve always had what they call a “Hustle Hand” meaning even at a young age I was business savvy. As soon as I was of age, I went out and found a job. When I was just 16 years old is when the idea of creating Shark Nation Family came to me & it has stuck with me since.
Today, that is my brand, my business & my family. I own a car wash, a mobile car spa, a clothing line, a music label, a music platform for artists & more. Always gaining ideas on how to expand the brand & finding ways to help others do the same. I love to inspire people. I know the future of SNF is going to be Big.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve taken a lot of losses on this journey. One major event that was life-changing was the passing of my father when I was just 19. He always told me to be better than he was and he believed that I have it in me so that is what I strive to do.
I went through custody battles as a child. I’ve Lived in 2 homeless shelters and even a hotel room with 4 siblings so I know how it feels to struggle. God made a way for us & I’m thankful. I dropped out of school 2 times to Pursue the streets. But God had his hand on me so I went back and graduated.
I was supposed to get aborted as a baby but by grace, that did not happen. Many times, I’ve been hospitalized for health reasons but none of that was my portion. I’m alive and well AMEN.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make music from the soul. Not just relatable but relieving.
When people hear my songs, it changes lives and brings awareness & gives off a feeling that you are not alone. I write in spirit and in truth. Also, my songs are original and catchy. I do not claim any genre if anything I made my own genre.
I specialize in social skills (a people person). I’m very distinctive there is only one B1g Monsta & I’m proud of that.
What do you think about happiness?
Seeing others smile, accomplishing goals, knowing that I’m healing, and being able to help makes me smile. Thinking about the goodness of my lord and savior that brought me out of a dark place many times makes me cry tears of joy.
