Today we’d like to introduce you to David Rivera.
Hi David, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a DJ for the local kids in my community in this town called Palm Bay. I discovered a passion for entertaining others and started working with local community organizations, corporate sponsors, and eventually private weddings!
Now, I run a small business with my wife in Jacksonville.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have definitely been challenges, specifically the COVID-19 pandemic which definitely put a halt in our business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I DJ for private and public events. I’m proud of being able to bring joy and entertainment to others.
I think what sets me apart from others is trying to approach forms of entertainment from a different perspective than others. I always research to see what others do and try to do something, if not totally opposite, different enough to where it doesn’t seem like copy and paste.
Instead, it has my own touch to it.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I am always learning on every occasion.
No matter how well prepared you are for any obstacle, you never know when another will spring in front of you. Expect the best, and always prepare for the worst. Use every past mistake as a learning experience and don’t beat yourself up for it.
I’ve learned in my profession, that if you make a mistake, specifically DJing, just keep rolling. The less attention brought to yourself, people won’t even notice.
