Today we’d like to introduce you to Hector Argiro.
Hi Hector, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Hector Argiró, I am a cartographer and traveler. I am traveling around the world.
My first great goal was to link Ushuaia (in Argentina) with Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, on August 27th, 2019, with a classic Argentine car, a Torino 380 1969. To date, I rolled 90,000 miles since 24 November 2016 through 19 countries: Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, United States, and Canada.
Now I find myself in Miami, FL, waiting for the summer because I would like to go to the Northern States, without snow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can say that it has been a smooth road because I don’t like to talk about problems, but about situations that have to be resolved in the best way, and they are part of the journey.
Without a doubt, the biggest struggle I have had on the trip was with the ice and the cold in Canada and Alaska. Emotionally, the worst was the pandemic, for having my family in my country and I was very distressed and worried about not knowing if I was going to hug them again.
For this reason, I decided to return during the pandemic. And get back on the road on November 4th, 2021.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about what you do.
I was born in Tucumán, Argentina, and raised in Buenos Aires as I like to say, the land pulls.
After starting, changing, and abandoning university studies, having several jobs, sometimes more than one at a time, at the age of 25 I decided to study one of my passions, cartography. I had a lot of experience at that age working with computer systems, but after so many years of coming and going, I found the place and decided to study what I like. Today, I have a degree in Cartography, Cartographer. To date, I am a cartographer and traveler.
I am proud to have fulfilled the dream of my childhood, that of my life. Join in a vintage car, the car of my dreams, the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia in Argentina, with Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, where the road ends, in the Arctic Ocean. I don’t like to use the word differentiate myself. I can only say that I made the decisions to be able to fulfill my dreams.
Maybe they weren’t the best or at the right times, but I managed them.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Do not write or share inspirational phrases. Make them come true and unintentionally wanting you will motivate others.
