Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Jenkins.
Hi Melissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Greetings Readers!
Growing up in a large family with frequent conversations of real estate I was always intrigued by how a piece of land would be surveyed, mapped and developed for community use and the role it played in the local economy. Although a majority of my professional experience encompasses directing a for profit education company; my childhood friends and I always dreamed to one day be able to invest in real estate.
Throughout the pandemic I gained new experiences that helped to define MY WHY. Instead of running a business for someone else’s purpose as I did for the last 15 years; it was time for me to pursue my own passions within real estate and add to the legacy I have within my family. It was time for a transformation and for me to take control of my future as I was no longer aligned with the company values. I no longer wanted time to pass and continue to believe I had already reached my full potential staying in a role longer than anticipated.
In 2021 I decided to take control of my life. I realized it’s okay to close a chapter and start a new one. As we all know time waits on no one; so here goes the start of my career in real estate.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey leading to today has been a long, curvy road with many bumps along the way, and I would not change anything about it. Each lesson and experience helped me to build the confidence I needed to start a new career at 40 years old.
To include pursuing a Masters Degree in Business while working full-time in a demanding job.
Over the course of an eight year period, I pursued my Bachelors and Master’s Degree all while working, balancing multiple priorities for the multi-million dollar business I was directing. At times, I had to make tough decisions such as do I spend much needed quality time with family and friends or do I study for the next quiz, test, midterm, group project, final exam etc. Each of these experiences helped to mold me into the professional I am today!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a REALTOR® with Watson Realty Corp working in the highly desirable St. Johns and Duval County.
I love showing off the diverse selection of properties and lifestyles Northeast Florida has to offer residents, including nature trails, A-rated schools, and more! For buyers or sellers outside of Northeast Florida, I enjoy connecting with folks everywhere to help match them with a great REALTOR® in their area.
My business acumen translates seamlessly to helping buyers with understanding the market area and sellers know the value of their home and how to market it. Possessing the ability to oversee multiple touchpoints within each transaction, overcoming roadblocks and always finding a solution.
In my spare time, I enjoy the beautiful Florida outdoors, trying new restaurants, going to concerts, traveling, and spending time with family and my Belgian Malinois pup, Zulu! If you are ready to buy a home in paradise or sell your property, call Me today to get started today.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for anyone thinking of making a change in their life would be to work really hard on yourself so that you can be of service to others.
A mentor once shared, “Pay attention to the vital few, ignore the trivial many”! May this help you too.
