Today we’d like to introduce you to Gimalys Collazo.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am from Bayamon, Puerto Rico I was born and raised there. I am very proud to be from such a beautiful island. I began decorating and working with balloons when I was a teenager helping my sister-in-law decorate my nephew and nieces’ birthday parties.
I also planned and decorated my Quince, which later developed into a creative outlet to help decorate small parties and events for family and friends. I am a mother of two beautiful teen girls so I was the planner and decorator for my own wedding, baby showers, and my daughters’ birthdays.
While I was working full time for a financial institution, having to tend for two babies and going to school for a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
With a minor in Accounting at Metropolitan University (UMET) in Puerto Rico, I decided to pause my passion and abilities and only decorate and plan for my girl’s birthday parties. All while working at a bank. After I obtained my degree, my husband received a job offer in Jacksonville, FL. We moved here in July 2014; starting over in a new city with no family or friends. Thanks to my banking experience I started working for a financial institution for a while and still just doing my daughter’s birthday decorations.
After a couple of online courses and classes, I decided to take my gift and abilities to the next level and start working towards my dream “Gii Fancy Fiesta”. I started off my own planning and décor business as a side job while I was working at a bank, I decided to take the risk and resign from my job and dedicate all my time towards my dream. By going to multiple in-person classes and receiving certifications in Miami, FL. Now I am a full-time business owner.
With a lot of imagination and the ability to create, I am the mind behind all the incredible party styling for Gii Fancy Fiesta where our passion is to create unforgettable moments in the life of those who put their trust in me. I like to think of Gii Fancy Fiesta as a dream factory, where the vision of an unforgettable celebration comes true. We like to make every detail, and we are passionate about concretizing ideas so that our client’s events are unique and memorable.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Although the road has been very challenging, it’s also been amazing creating personalized designs to fulfill every client’s need. I work very hard every day trying to promote and do the marketing to reach the right clientele to have a successful and rentable business.
One thing I’ve found true is to be unique, authentic and understand that your only competition is you. I am very passionate to be part of that special moment and see the face of happiness and satisfaction of those who gave me their trust and create that memory that would last a lifetime.
We are responsible for making memories for as many families as possible with our vision, talent, and creativity.

With a passion to help shape events and lots of creativity, Gii Fancy Fiesta is an event planning and décor company that offers personalized designs and full event production, we decorate many memorable celebrations.
I spend countless hours creating a dream celebration for each family. Going above and beyond for each of my wonderful clients to fulfill their expectations. I am very detailed in ensuring each client’s vision is properly organized and executed.
I am most known for the design and exclusivity of amazing work trying to be outside of the box and doing everything hand-made and personalized designed 100% uniquely for your party. No two designs/installations will ever be the same.
Any big plans?
To continue growing, expanding my business all around the country, and having my calendar booked for a whole year in advance.
