Exploring Life & Business with Cyndy Tomassetti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyndy Tomassetti. She shares her story with us below:

As a full-time Broker Associate, Cyndy enjoys listening to her customers and translating their wishes into reality, making real estate transactions a smooth and satisfying experience. She loves finding the perfect home as well as crafting precision marketing plans to deliver qualified buyers. Cyndy’s white-glove customer service has put her in the top tier of local agents.

Raised by generations of real estate investors, Cyndy learned the ropes in her teens, working for her parents in their residential real estate business in the Florida Keys. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she acquired and currently manages multiple residential properties. Understanding investment property from the ground up is a knowledge base she enjoys sharing with her customers.

Cyndy has BA in Communications from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, and graduate studies in Communication Science at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. Cyndy spent three decades in the advertising industry, working beside her husband, professional photographer, and videographer, Alan. Cyndy’s familiarity with all advertising platforms from digital to broadcast television allows her to not only educate the public on the real estate industry but also to present her listings in the best possible light.

When Cyndy is not working in real estate, you can find her off exploring all that North Florida has to offer, on land and sea. An avid nature photographer and artist, Cyndy is especially fond of capturing the wildlife that inhabits Florida’s many coasts and marshes. A Lyric Soprano, Cyndy enjoys singing with local choral ensembles and is a sponsor of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In regards to real estate, I feel it’s been pretty smooth sailing as I was in media for thirty-two years, negotiating, designing, and implementing marketing plans. Watching over seven to ten million dollars a year advertising budgets is great training for handling real estate transactions, and I had an excellent understanding of how to both prospect for new customers, and deliver five-star customer service.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I love being a broker-associate with Engel & Völkers as our core values are aligned; we believe in exemplary customer service, with competency, exclusivity, and passion. When someone works with me, I want to turn them into a lifetime raving fan. My service doesn’t end at the closing table. We are committed to luxury service regardless of the price point, I’m a full-time broker-associate, this isn’t a hobby for me. I got my broker’s license to make sure I had the best knowledge base possible to offer my customers.

We are an international company in over thirty counties, and I love that I can globally market my listings. The technology we have for our customers is cutting edge. I really appreciate being a part of a brokerage that sets and holds its partners to such high standards.

While I love assisting buyers who are looking to grow their wealth with investment properties, first-time homebuyers are a personal favorite to work with. I also really enjoy helping people relocate to North Florida, and showing them all the area has to offer from fine dining to some of the best places to hike, bike, or kayak.

In regards to selling property, you will find that regardless of the price point, my listings have a very distinct look: all of my listings are professionally staged and photographed. My customers benefit from very precise marketing plans that include broadcast television, print, radio, and extensive online exposure.

I don’t just want a buyer for you, I want the best buyers for you. When I have an open house, I’m there with an assistant to both keep the property safe, but also to continue marketing the property as the buyer’s tour.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
While there is definitely a shift to digital options, having a live person to handle buyer and seller transactions, and nothing illustrates this better than the recent failure of Zillow (losing on average $51,000 per house) as they used an automated system to evaluate the property. You can’t call an algorithm at 10:30 at night with questions.

I think the value of a real-life negotiator speaks volumes. I meet my appraisers at my listings, and we use a similar methodology.

Right now it’s a sellers’ market, and I think that has made a lot of sellers and agents lazy; they pop a sign in the yard and wait.

The market will shift, and then those agents will have a portfolio of unstaged, cell phone photographed unmarketed properties to show people what their work ethic or lack of one can do. Lazy and sloppy will still find buyers in the current market, but I doubt they will see repeat business.
