Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Simon.
Hi Paul, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After graduating from The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and my business partner serving in The United States Navy, we aspired to become business owners in the hair industry. In October of the year 2015, my partner Kwame Hancock and I set forth to achieve that goal by opening The Fine Grooming Studio.
Our vision was to open The City of Jacksonville’s first-ever Men’s Grooming Salon which would also cater to women. Throughout our years of experience as Barbers, we learned that the hair industry was lacking great customer service and a professional environment for customers. This led us to open up this establishment to change the narrative.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Unfortunately, the business hasn’t been a smooth road. We had to close our doors due to the pandemic. That definitely was a struggle because we weren’t able to service any clients nor were we able to open our doors for business during that period in time. The pandemic definitely cut back on our revenue.
Through the grace of God, we were able to make it through the pandemic and keep our doors open. In October of the year 2020, we were blessed to open up our new Southside location in the Deerwood Commons Plaza. Now we have two locations, and we’re looking to hire more professional barbers and stylists to join a great team.

The Fine Grooming Studio specializes in Hair, Scalp, and Skin Care. We are more than just a barbershop; we offer various services that promote healthy hair, skin, and scalp. Our services include Facial Rejuvenations, Beard Therapy, Scalp Treatments, Hydro Therapy Bald Head Treatments, Ingrown Hair Extractions, Keloidalis Nuchae/Acne Treatments, and Color Enhancements.
All of our Grooming Specialists are professionally trained to stay abreast with the latest haircut trends and to pay close attention to detail.
What are your plans for the future?
We have big plans for the near future which include growth, expansion, and franchising.
