Today we’d like to introduce you to Zain Nelson.
Hi Zain, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2001, I moved back home from college in Tallahassee because I had kids to take care of and when I moved back here I started hanging out with the wrong crowd and was selling drugs. I ended up doing a little time and I told myself that I’m never doing that again. I started working for a construction company here in Jacksonville and I was making $15 an hour and being close to the boss, I saw the checks he was getting paid for the work I was doing and after working with him for a month, I quit and started my own business.
I didn’t know how to do everything in construction but I always knew how to be successful in business since that was my major in college. I started learning tile and flooring from the very same guys that I hired and soon after that, I had got good at everything that has to do with a house like framing, painting, tiling, flooring, plumbing, and a little electrical. I was very successful when I started and I used social media to build my customer base by posting my pics of the jobs that I was doing.
I wasn’t really worried about likes, I just wanted to keep posting my work and eventually, people will catch on in which they did. Now my phone rings off the hook for work especially for kitchens and bathrooms in which I specialize in. My kids are my drive to strive for more and for better. I thank god for giving me another chance to get it right and for that, I’m forever grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning, it was trying to find enough work so that I was busy all the time.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a small construction company and I specialize in kitchens and bathrooms. However, I do full remodeling on entire houses. I give my all in every job that I do, I want my customers to be very happy because if they’re happy, they’ll definitely tell more people about me.
I want people to know that when they hire my company for any job, they hire honest hardworking people who will get the job done the right way and the way that they want it. We always offer free estimates.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been a hardworking man. I’ve been working ever since I became old enough to work. I used to work two jobs in high school so that I could buy the things that I wanted. I’ve always been known to be the funniest person in high school and to my peers. I always made people laugh.
