Today we’d like to introduce you to China Thompson.
Hi China, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into real estate started with a genuine desire to help people accomplish one of the biggest goals of their lives, homeownership. I’ve always enjoyed helping others, and real estate gave me the opportunity to turn that passion into a career.
As I grew in the industry, I quickly learned that being a Realtor is about so much more than showing homes. It’s about educating, advocating, problem-solving, and being there for clients through every step of the process. I especially enjoy helping first-time homebuyers, military families, relocating families, and clients who may not know where to begin.
Today, I’m proud to serve families throughout Northeast Florida as part of the Jan Sold That Team. Every transaction has helped me grow, both personally and professionally, and I’m continuing to build my business through relationships, consistency, and putting my clients first.
My goal is simple: I want every client I work with to feel informed, supported, and confident in their next move. For me, real estate isn’t just about selling houses—it’s about helping families start their next chapter.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey in real estate has definitely not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to navigate an industry where every transaction, client, and situation is different. There have been moments of uncertainty, deals that didn’t go as planned, long days, and times when I had to remind myself why I started.
I’ve also had to balance building my real estate career while being a mother and handling the responsibilities of everyday life. That has taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of continuing to show up even when things aren’t perfect.
Instead of allowing challenges to discourage me, I’ve used them as opportunities to learn and become a stronger Realtor. I’m still growing, still learning, and still building—and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Every obstacle has strengthened my determination to create something meaningful for myself, my family, and the families I have the opportunity to serve.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a real estate professional serving Jacksonville and the surrounding Northeast Florida area. I work with buyers and sellers, with a special passion for helping first-time homebuyers, military and VA buyers, families relocating to Florida, and clients who may need a little extra guidance navigating the home-buying process.
What sets me apart is how involved I am with my clients from beginning to end. I don’t want someone to simply purchase or sell a home—I want them to understand the process and feel confident in every decision they make. Whether that means answering questions, coordinating virtual tours for an out-of-state buyer, connecting someone with the right resources, or advocating for my client throughout a transaction, I make it a priority to be present and accessible.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’m building and the families I’ve been able to help. Seeing a client receive their keys, especially when they once questioned whether homeownership was possible for them, is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I’m continuing to grow my business and my knowledge every day, but I never want to lose the personal touch. My clients aren’t just transactions to me,they’re people trusting me with an important chapter of their lives, and I take that responsibility seriously.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding the right mentor can make such a difference, especially in real estate. My advice is to surround yourself with people who are where you want to be and who are willing to teach you—not just tell you what to do.
Being part of the Jan Sold That Team has given me the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, ask questions, and gain hands-on experience in situations you simply can’t learn from a textbook. I’ve learned that you have to be coachable, willing to listen, and willing to put what you learn into action.
Networking has also taught me the importance of building genuine relationships. I try to attend events, classes, connect with other professionals in the industry, and simply put myself in rooms where I can continue to grow. You never know which conversation or connection may open the next door for you.
Most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask questions. I would rather ask and learn than pretend I already know. That mindset has helped me tremendously in my career.
