Today we’d like to introduce you to Tru Wells.
Hi Tru, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story really started with me wanting to create something that could actually help kids and families, not just something that looked good on paper. I have always been creative, and a lot of that creativity came from my real fluffy Frenchies. Cash the Fluffy Frenchie was inspired by that part of my life, and what started as a children’s book idea eventually became a way for me to teach kids about money, responsibility, decision making, leadership, safety and real life lessons in a way they could actually connect with.
A lot of my purpose also comes from personal experiences and loss. My brother Ritchy is a huge part of why I care so much about creating things that can help young people with grief, resilience, safety and making the most of their lives. Losing someone close to you changes the way you look at time and purpose. For me, it made me want to build something that could keep helping people beyond just one moment.
From there, I started The Biggest Foundation Inc. in 2026. I did not come into this with a big team, a huge budget or some perfect blueprint. I really learned by doing. I started reaching out to schools, hospitals, youth programs, foster care organizations and community groups, and I kept showing up wherever there was an opportunity to put something positive in front of a child.
Since then, we have been able to donate hundreds of books and educational resources, support youth in different communities, build programs around literacy and financial education, and expand our outreach beyond Florida.
A lot of what pushes me is knowing that not every young person grows up with the same access, guidance or opportunities. I know how much one resource, one conversation or one person believing in you can change the direction of your life. That is why I try to make sure our work is not just about handing somebody a book. I want the things we create to give young people something they can actually use and remember.
I am still building and still learning. There are a lot of things I want The Biggest Foundation to become, but I am proud of how far we have come in such a short amount of time. What means the most to me is seeing something that started from my own life, my family, my dogs and my experiences turn into real books, real programs, real partnerships and real opportunities for kids. My goal is to keep growing the work without losing the reason I started it in the first place, which is to make sure young people know their circumstances do not have to decide how far they can go.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. A lot of what I have built came from figuring things out as I went, making mistakes, getting told no, and still finding another way to keep moving.
One of the biggest challenges has been building everything without starting with a lot of money, connections or a big team behind me. When you are young and trying to build something serious, people do not always take you seriously at first. I have had to learn how nonprofits work, how sponsorships work, how to approach companies, how to build partnerships, how to create programs, how to handle paperwork, and how to make sure the work is actually helping people instead of just looking good online.
Funding has probably been one of the hardest parts. There have been plenty of times where I knew exactly what I wanted to do for kids, but the money was not there yet. I have had to hear no from companies, wait on grants, change plans, scale things down, and sometimes figure out how to make something happen with way less than I originally planned.
I have also had to learn how to balance the personal side of life with the work. Losing my brother Ritchy affected me deeply and changed a lot about the way I think about purpose, time and what really matters. There have been moments where I was dealing with things personally while still trying to show up for other people and keep the Foundation moving forward.
Another challenge has been learning that every opportunity is not the right opportunity. In the beginning, I wanted to say yes to everything because I was excited to help. Over time I have learned to slow down, listen more, make sure the partnership makes sense, and be realistic about what we can actually deliver.
I am still learning every day. I do not have everything figured out, and I do not pretend to. But I think the challenges have made me more resourceful, more patient and more serious about the work. Every no, every delay and every setback has forced me to get better, and that is a big part of how I got to where I am now.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Biggest Foundation Inc. is a Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit I founded in 2026 to help young people through literacy, financial education, leadership, life skills, safety, resilience and community outreach. A big part of our work is creating educational books and resources that teach real life lessons in a way kids can actually understand and connect with.
What I think sets us apart is that we try to listen before we assume what a community needs. We work with schools, youth organizations, hospitals, community groups and families, and we try to build our support around what will actually be useful. Since launching, we have been able to donate hundreds of books and educational resources and continue expanding our outreach into different communities.
I am especially proud that something that started with my own creativity, my real fluffy Frenchies and the Cash the Fluffy Frenchie book idea has grown into something that can reach kids in a much bigger way. I want people to know that The Biggest Foundation is still growing, but the mission is serious. My goal is to keep creating opportunities and resources that help young people learn, make better decisions, believe in themselves and see more possibilities for their future.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are really about growing The Biggest Foundation without losing the reason I started it. I want to reach more kids and families through books, financial education, leadership programs, scholarships, safety education and community outreach, while building stronger partnerships with schools, nonprofits, hospitals and companies that believe in the same mission.
I am also looking forward to expanding into more cities and countries, creating more opportunities for young people around technology, entrepreneurship and career exposure, and continuing to grow the Cash the Fluffy Frenchie books and educational resources.
Long term, I want The Biggest Foundation to become something that lasts and continues opening doors for young people long after me. I am still early in the journey, but I am excited about how much bigger the impact can become.
