Today we’d like to introduce you to Leroy Copeland.
Leroy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started playing guitar and writing my own songs at the age of 12 and started to move onto other instruments like bass and drums at 13 and 14 and keyboards at age 18. I’ve been playing live shows since I was 15 years old and doing professional studio work since I was in my 20s. I am currently producing my own music and for friends and clients of mine as well, playing live shows and gigs and doing studio session work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been blessed with a natural ability to understand music and the way it works in ways that can be hard for me to convey to other people. Doing original music is always hard, not only do you have to play it and record it, but you have to write it as well. But it is always worth the work.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I sing, write, play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and more… and I produce my own music. I am known for being able to jump into any band and play any role that needs to be played. I am most proud of my songwriting and what sets me apart is my ability to listen to music as a whole, and to know what needs to be done.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have learned so much over the years from so many people, but two that stand out among the rest are Rick Grice, Owner of Endangered Wisemen Recording Studios and Paul Lapinski owner of My Platinum Sound.
