Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Martinets.
Hi Laura, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a Red Cross certified water safety instructor. I have been with the Red Cross teaching swimming since I was 17. I have about 38 years experience teaching swimming to children ages 3 to adult. I teach beginners through advanced students.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have taught at public pools over the years but the last 7 I have created my own swimming business here in Jacksonville. It has been a smooth road for the most part although being a mom to several children and running a business always has its challenges. As far as swimming it has been smooth sailing. I love to teach children this valuable skill.
We’ve been impressed with Laura’s Learn to Swim, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in teaching Red Cross swimming lessons to all ages starting at age 3. I offer small group classes, semi private, and private lessons. I think I would be set apart from others due to my experience and my patience in allowing students to progress at their own pace and allow the to really enjoy the water.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Always treat people well and with respect and treat others as I want to be treated.
