Life & Work with Liz Amore of Jacksonville, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Amore.

Hi Liz, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story really started with a love of communications, storytelling, travel, and connecting people with experiences they might not otherwise discover. I’ve always been curious about what’s happening around me and, especially, about finding the hidden gems—the places, events, and opportunities that are fun, affordable, and worth sharing.

That curiosity eventually led me into public relations and communications, where I built my career helping businesses and organizations tell their stories and connect with their audiences. Over time, I realized that I also wanted to tell my own stories and share the experiences I was discovering, particularly here in South Florida.

That’s how my work evolved into a combination of PR, travel, content creation, and local lifestyle coverage. Through Amore Communications and my travel and local platforms, including MiamiOnTheCheap and HappyTravels305, I’ve been able to turn my passion for discovering great experiences into a career. I love being able to say, “I found this—now you need to know about it!”

Today, I wear a lot of hats. I’m a communications professional, travel editor, travel advisor, content creator, and promoter of all the amazing things happening in South Florida and beyond. I work with brands, destinations, attractions, restaurants, hotels, and businesses to help tell their stories, while also creating content for people who want to experience more without necessarily spending a fortune.

What I’m most proud of is how organically it has all come together. What started with communications and storytelling has grown into a career that allows me to combine my professional experience with things I genuinely love—traveling, discovering new places, supporting local businesses, finding great deals, and sharing those discoveries with my audience. And I’m still looking forward to seeing where the next chapter takes me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. I think one of the biggest misconceptions about building a career is that it happens in a straight line. Mine certainly hasn’t.

There have been plenty of moments when I’ve had to reinvent myself, take a step back, figure out what wasn’t working, and then try something completely different. Working in communications, media, travel, and content creation can be unpredictable, and especially as a small business owner, you’re constantly balancing creativity with the business side of things—finding clients, creating opportunities, managing finances, and keeping up with an industry that changes almost daily.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning not to compare my journey to someone else’s. Social media can make it look like everyone else has everything figured out, when behind the scenes, most of us are working incredibly hard to make things happen. I’ve had opportunities that didn’t work out, ideas that didn’t take off the way I expected, and times when I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction.

But those experiences have also been some of my best teachers. They’ve pushed me to become more resilient, more creative, and more willing to take chances. I’ve learned that sometimes a setback is really just a redirection.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but honestly, I’m grateful for that. Every challenge has helped shape the person and business I have today. I’ve learned to embrace the twists and turns rather than feeling like I have to have the entire road mapped out in advance.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work sits at the intersection of communications, travel, media, and content creation. Through Amore Communications, I help businesses, destinations, attractions, and organizations tell their stories, build visibility, and connect with the audiences they want to reach. At the same time, through my travel and local media work, I’m constantly discovering and sharing things to do, places to stay, restaurants to try, and experiences worth knowing about.

I specialize in taking a story, experience, or business and figuring out how to make people care about it. That might mean developing a PR strategy, creating social media content, pitching a story to media, working with a tourism partner, or simply finding the right angle that makes something stand out.

I’m probably best known for my South Florida content and for finding ways to experience Miami and the surrounding area without spending a fortune. I love uncovering the hidden gems, free events, affordable activities, travel deals, and experiences that people may not know about. But I also love the other side of the spectrum—showing that you can have a special, memorable, or even luxurious experience too.

What I’m most proud of is building a career that allows me to combine my professional skills with my genuine curiosity and passion for exploring. I’m proud that my work has grown organically and that I’ve created platforms and relationships that allow me to help both consumers and businesses. I love being the person who connects the two.

I think what sets me apart is that I’m not just a marketer talking about a destination or business—I’m someone who genuinely wants to experience it, understand it, and tell the story from a consumer’s perspective. I’m always thinking about what would make me stop scrolling, click, visit, book, or tell a friend about something.

I also think my background in PR gives me a different perspective as a content creator. I understand both sides: what audiences want to see and what a brand needs to accomplish. I’m able to bridge that gap and create authentic stories that feel useful rather than simply promotional.

Ultimately, I don’t want to just promote something. I want to make people curious about it. If I can introduce someone to a new place, help a small business get noticed, inspire someone to take a trip, or help a brand tell its story in a way that resonates, then I feel like I’ve done my job.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
On a personal level, I’ve been supported by friends and family who have always encouraged my curiosity and creativity\. Whether it was accompanying me on early content shoots, sharing my work, or simply reminding me to keep going during slower seasons, their encouragement has been a constant source of motivation.

I’ve also been inspired by fellow creators and industry peers who have shown me what’s possible in this space\. Seeing others build meaningful, authentic platforms has pushed me to stay consistent, stay original, and continue evolving my own approach.

All of these people—mentors, clients, collaborators, friends, and peers—have played a role in shaping not just my career, but the way I approach my work\. I don’t see my success as something I’ve built alone, but rather something that has been built through relationships, trust, and shared belief in storytelling and connection.
