Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Drain.
Hi Justin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started photography is 2014 taking photos of concerts, from local to bigger shows. I somehow doing other styles of photography through the years because I didn’t want to do just one thing. Over time my work progressed and it got better. I plan more carefully now on my shoots for the best execution on the project.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I had to find my style and brand to really show off my work. But over time, when you see the results you are looking for then it all comes together.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The style of work I do is various. I call myself a photographer virtuoso. Meaning that that I have great skill in what I do. I like to photograph different styles of photography. The photography I specialize in are portraits, cosplay, conventions/ events, & concerts. The thing I’m most proud of is making connections between clients and continuing on the professional relationship. What sets me apart from others is that I plan out my shoots ahead of time. Writing down the details of what the client wants and getting the appropriate references to execute the final product.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see photography continuing to evolve into a more cinematic and story-driven art form, with clients looking for complete visual experiences rather than just individual images. My goal is to open a professional photography studio where I can create high-end portraits, cosplay, and commercial work in a controlled environment while collaborating with other creatives to bring ambitious ideas to life. I believe the industry will continue to reward photographers who develop a distinctive style, create meaningful experiences for their clients, and tell compelling stories through their work.
