Check Out Kalin Anderson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalin Anderson.

Hi Kalin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Atlanta. My dad was in the Navy so that got us all here. Early years I ate everything the parents were eating, the purees didn’t last too long for me, so I was expensive early lol. My 1st memory was hearing my grandma tell me “Someone isn’t always going to want to fed you just because you’re hungry.” Im not even sure if I could speak yet but for some reason I felt her to my core. And by core this was just the beginning. I remember thinking to myself (Im cute as hell, who wouldn’t want to feed me) fast forward years and years, I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2015. Worked and opened many restaurants that I learned insane amounts in Orlando before coming home. FeedTheVille was created while I was away in Orlando. Once I moved back an a close friend a brother of mine was killed I went full steam with the business to represent and show respect to the support he gave me. When you see “L.L.G.” thats for him. Glen “Gleet McNeil. Being back home we just did exactly what the business says “Feed The Ville”. With “SILKES Chicken + Champagne” being the last restaurant I opened once leaving there it was game on. Was already a pop up guy but the TAKEOVERS and events became what I was known for. From Takeovers at Brew in 5 Points, to Chancho King, Izakaya Ko and many others. Has been a blessing to create in such an unconventional way that so many people gravitate too. Truly in love with Jax.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Lol you have to laugh at that off the back, of course not. Everyday as an entrepreneur is a day. nothings promise but that you have to make sure you figure it out. not just for 2 weeks til pay day. But for every single day without a “pay day” As creator we just want to create, so the other things that happen in a single day, week or year can get hard to maintain. Consistent work is always a struggle and really the main one is motivation. it’s hard to be motivated when you motivate a lot of people or looked at as motivation.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im a Chef in as many ways I can be. I specialize in a lot, I’ve worked in many cuisines and learned from really good people. Im pretty well rounded but I’ll say I specialize in Asian southern food. lots of fusion with other cultures as well. Known for my creative thought process for food. very simple to me but seeing the reactions and hearing the “how did you even think of this” is always my favorite. basically food thats common but elevated away you’ll never see that meal the same. Im most proud of actually working for myself. funding myself with my ideas, owning a home and really being able is huge to me. I think my grind, passion and openness to be an anomaly sets myself apart from others. doing it as a one person entity at this capacity is also another one.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
