Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffery “Shino-B Beatz” Brown.
Hi Jeffery, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started making music at the age of 14. My cousin, Yolanda Williams—author and owner of Moore and Poesy Publishing—was the driving force behind my pursuit of music production. She believed in my potential from the very beginning and invested in me by providing my first digital audio workstation, FL Studio. More importantly, she constantly encouraged me to pursue my creativity and never let me doubt what I was capable of achieving.
As a self-taught producer, I spent years learning the craft, experimenting with different sounds, and working with local artists. Along the way, I also had opportunities to contribute to projects connected with various record labels, which helped me gain valuable experience and confidence in my abilities.
A major turning point in my journey came when I became an apprentice to one of the most talented music producers and audio engineers I’ve ever met, Antionio “AyeVii” Zimmerman. Under his mentorship, my production and engineering skills reached an entirely new level. He challenged me to refine every aspect of my craft, and the lessons I learned from him continue to influence my work today.
Looking back, I owe so much to both Yolanda and Antonio. Without their belief in me, guidance, and willingness to invest in my growth, I wouldn’t be the producer and creator I am today. Their impact extends far beyond music—they helped shape the way I approach creativity, excellence, and continuous learning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many creators, one of my biggest challenges has been finding the right balance between my passion for music and my responsibilities to my family. Time management has always been a constant struggle, especially while trying to grow as a producer and still be present for the people who matter most.
There were also financial hardships along the way. Building a career in music isn’t always predictable, and there were times when I was doing everything I could to provide for my wife and our two sons while continuing to invest in my craft. There were moments of uncertainty, but I never lost sight of why I started or what I wanted to build.
Through it all, one of my greatest sources of strength has been my wife. Her support, encouragement, and willingness to stand beside me through the highs and lows made it possible for me to keep pushing forward. Looking back, those challenges taught me resilience, patience, and perseverance. Today, while every journey still has its ups and downs, I can honestly say things are as smooth as they’ve ever been, and I’m grateful for everyone who helped me get here.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a music producer, audio engineer, and songwriter, and I’m proud to be part of the Florida division of Fleet DJs. My work includes producing original instrumentals, providing basic artist development, and collaborating with artists to help bring their creative vision to life. Whether I’m building a track from scratch or helping shape a song, my goal is always to create music that connects with people.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is my work with artists Logan Greenwood and Amalya. I produced the instrumental and co-produced their song “Body,” which went on to win Power 106.1’s Duval’s Finest XXL competition. Seeing a record I helped create receive that kind of recognition was incredibly rewarding and reinforced why I love what I do.
What I believe sets me apart is my versatility. I don’t limit myself to one genre or one sound. I can listen to almost any style of music, catch the vibe, and create something fresh that fits the artist while still bringing my own creativity to the table. I enjoy pushing myself creatively, and I believe that being adaptable allows me to connect with a wide variety of artists and help them find a sound that feels authentic to them.
