Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Jacques.
Hi Kimberley , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into makeup artistry was honestly unexpected. Growing up, I never envisioned myself becoming a makeup artist. My original dream was to work in the medical field. However, makeup found me in a way that felt divinely orchestrated.
What began as a simple love and appreciation for beauty slowly developed into something much deeper. At the time, I had no idea that my passion for makeup would eventually become my career and purpose.
After moving back to the United States, I found myself in a job that didn’t bring me fulfillment. During that season of my life, I immersed myself in makeup as a creative outlet, and what started as passion quickly evolved into a profession. Over time, I discovered that makeup was more than enhancing outward beautyit became a way to build confidence, connect with people, and even minister to women through my chair.
Looking back, I can see that every step of the journey was intentional. What I once considered an unexpected path became the very career that has allowed me to impact lives, travel, and build a business that I truly love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, it has not been a completely smooth road. One of my unique challenges was building a business while being far away from my family and support system. I came to the United States as an international student, and after getting married, I had to navigate entrepreneurship while my entire family remained back home.
Building my business required patience, resilience, and sacrifice. I invested heavily in my craft, taking the time to perfect my skills and continuously educate myself. In the beginning, earning people’s trust and establishing a loyal clientele took time.
There were certainly moments of uncertainty and challenges along the way, but I remained committed to professionalism, excellence, and genuinely serving my clients. I believe that consistently honoring my work and treating every client with care has been instrumental in my growth.
While the journey has had its difficulties, I can honestly say that it has also been incredibly rewarding. Looking back, every challenge helped shape the business and the woman I am today, and I am grateful for how far I’ve come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a bridal makeup specialist and photographer in portrait, branding, and bridal boudoir photography. My passion lies in helping women feel beautiful, confident, and seen, whether that’s on one of the most important days of their lives or through imagery that tells their story.
I am particularly known for my soft, elegant, and consistent makeup application. Over the years, I have become especially recognized for my ability to work with deeper skin tones. While I enjoy working with all skin tones and beauty styles, many of my clients seek me out because they trust my expertise in enhancing and celebrating dark skin beautifully and accurately something that has often been overlooked within the beauty industry.
What sets me apart is not only my technical skill but also the experience I create for my clients. I genuinely care about the women who sit in my chair. For me, beauty goes beyond makeup and photographs; it’s about making women feel confident, valued, and celebrated. My chair has become a place of connection, encouragement, and sometimes even ministry.
While I am incredibly proud of the business I have built, my greatest accomplishment is being a wife and mother. Those roles have taught me patience, selflessness, and unconditional love. They are responsibilities that I cherish deeply and consider one of God’s greatest blessings in my life. Success in business is meaningful, but the opportunity to pour into my family and experience motherhood and marriage is something I am most grateful for.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing that may surprise people is that I’m actually a huge gamer! Most people know me for beauty, photography, and entrepreneurship, but outside of work, I genuinely enjoy playing video games. I also love board games and anything that brings people together for a little fun and friendly competition.
I think people are often surprised because my career is centered around beauty and creativity, but gaming has always been a great way for me to unwind, relax, and tap into another side of my personality. It’s one of my favorite ways to recharge outside of being a business owner, wife, and mom.
