Hi Justin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but my journey has been just as much about personal growth as it has been about becoming a better musician. Over the years, I’ve gone from struggling to recognize my own worth to finding a deeper sense of purpose through faith, service, and creativity.
Today I perform professionally while using music as a way to uplift others in public venues, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and community spaces. Whether I’m playing reggae, acoustic music, or leading moments of reflection and connection, my goal is always the same—to bring hope, peace, and joy to the people in front of me. I’m grateful for how far I’ve come, and I feel like I’m only beginning to grow into the musician and servant of the Lord that I’m called to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I grew up in a broken home, struggled with drug addiction, and spent years doubting my own worth and questioning whether I was capable of making a meaningful impact. Looking back, I realize my biggest obstacle wasn’t my circumstances—it was not fully believing in myself.
Everything began to change when I committed completely to my calling. Instead of letting fear or self-doubt hold me back, I started saying yes to every opportunity God placed in front of me. As I stepped forward in faith, the right people, opportunities, and resources continued to show up exactly when I needed them. Those challenges have given me compassion, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for the opportunity to encourage others through music. Today, I don’t see my past as something that defines me—I see it as the foundation that prepared me to serve others with authenticity and hope.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer-songwriter, producer, and live looping artist performing under the name Seedfromatree. I blend reggae, acoustic, dub, hip-hop, and meditative sound into performances that uplift, heal, and bring people together. Beyond festivals, breweries, and public events, I’m especially passionate about bringing music into nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, where I’ve seen firsthand how a simple song can restore joy, connection, and hope.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the music—it’s the journey that brought me here. I grew up in a broken home, battled drug addiction, and spent years not fully believing in myself. When I finally stopped holding back and committed 100% to my calling, everything changed. Music became my path of healing, purpose, and service.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just perform songs—I strive to create meaningful experiences. Whether I’m playing for a festival crowd or residents in a care facility, my intention is the same: to leave people feeling more connected, encouraged, and inspired than when they arrived. I believe music has the power to heal, and I’m grateful to use my gifts in service to others while continuing to grow as both an artist and a person.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in luck or chance in the traditional sense. I believe the universe is one living consciousness experiencing itself through each of us. What most people call “luck” is often the result of our beliefs, intentions, and the actions we consistently take. When we truly believe something is possible and commit ourselves fully, opportunities seem to appear—not because of random chance, but because we’re prepared to recognize and act on them. Looking back, even the hardest seasons of my life—from addiction and growing up in a broken home to struggling with self-belief—served a purpose. Those experiences shaped my character, strengthened my faith, and ultimately led me to the life and work I’m doing today. I believe everyone is born with a unique purpose, and every experience, whether we see it as good or bad, helps guide us toward fulfilling it.
