Conversations with Shanequa Minnis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanequa Minnis.

Shanequa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is shanequa Minnis and I’m a Jacksonville Fl native , born and raised in the heart of the city.
I started my company at the age of 19 , 9 years ago. Off the strength and idea of my godparents. During my senior year of highschool I was able to choreograph and teach dance numbers for my senior night in high school. I dance for the first Coast high school dance company, team. After having my family attend my senior night showcase my Godparents brought up the idea of opening my own dance studio. I’ve always wanted to open up my own dance studio and have my own dance team. I started dancing at the age of seven when I joined my church, praise dance team. From there, I took classes. after having my godparents bring up the studio Idea, they gave me the blessing of using their Daycare as my first studio . After that blessing, I started my company with just some flyers being made and posted on social media and from there it went into full swing for me. Starting with only 10 dancers leading into 3 to 4 months of business going to 20+ dancers.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been an easy journey for me, being a young entrepreneur in her 20’s always was a red flag for a lot of older parents inquiring about my business. But my age was never a factor, it was always what I brought to the table that allowed parents to trust my process and teachings and just simply trust me with their children.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a :
-dance coach
-Company director
-Full time daycare teacher (infants & toddlers)
-Miss dance USA 2023-2025
