Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Farmer.
Hi Kaitlyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Today, I guess I’m best known for being a model. It started with a digital camera and then a canon rebel and a dream. I was always bullied growing up for being ugly and one day my friend thought I was pretty enough to model. So I started amateur Photoshoots.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not always a smooth road, I was battling my own self conscious demons the entire way and I still am. I never thought I was pretty enough to model. I guess I’m living proof you are your own worse critic.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most proud of my journalism career. I always wanted to interview famous bands and my college professor told me, “ I needed a more realistic goal set:” well fast forward a year later and I would spend 3 years interviewing famous bands for Summerfest music festival and I would end up dancing on stage for famous djs and billboard top 100 artists.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I put myself out there every single day I have a photoshoot. To this very day I still hear my childhood bullies making fun of my eyes or whatever. Not pretty enough. Not skinny enough. Not enough. But I put those thoughts to bed and put myself out there and get some wonderful shots out of it.
