Conversations with Sharnique Green Washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharnique Green Washington.

Hi Sharnique, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a stay at home mom who was never really at home. I loved exploring Jacksonville with my family, and the more I discovered, the more I realized how much our city had to offer.

I noticed that a lot of people my age, especially people who looked like me, didn’t know about these experiences or spaces. I wanted to share what I was finding and help others see Jacksonville in a new way, which grew into my journey of highlighting local culture, community, and hidden gems.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no. I was lucky enough to find a mom community pretty early on and had the opportunity to work with Jacksonville Mom, which helped me build connections and find my voice. But there wasn’t really a guidebook for blogging or content creation, so a lot of it was learning as I went, figuring things out through trial and error, and creating my own path along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a content creator focused on helping people discover Jacksonville through local events, food, culture, and community. I’m most proud of creating content that makes people feel connected and showing that there are experiences and spaces for everyone.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just sharing places, I’m telling the stories behind them through the lens of a mom, a local, and someone who truly loves this city.

What matters most to you?
Community matters most to me because life is hard, and everyone needs a village. Having people, spaces, and connections that remind you that you’re not doing it alone can make all the difference.
