Today we’d like to introduce you to Nabilat Sulaimon.
Hi Nabilat, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Every journey has a defining moment, and mine began nine years ago with a simple act of faith. My aunt asked me to style a gele for her one year old daughter a task I wasn’t sure a toddler would sit through. To my delight, she did, and the beautiful photographs from that day sparked unexpected interest. Soon, I was receiving bookings for birthday shoots, and before long, my passion naturally evolved into the wedding industry. What started as a single opportunity has blossomed into a purpose-driven career, touching countless lives and celebrations. Looking back, I can only attribute this journey to the unwavering grace and favor of God, whose hand has guided every step along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like every meaningful journey, mine wasn’t without its challenges. Behind every beautiful milestone were seasons that tested my resilience and strengthened my character. One of the greatest lessons came from navigating unreliable clients who didn’t always value time or appreciate the artistry and dedication my craft demands. Those experiences, though difficult, shaped me into a stronger professional, teaching me the importance of setting boundaries, recognizing my worth, and remaining committed to excellence. Every challenge became a stepping stone, refining not only my business but also the woman behind the brand.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a traditional gele artist, specializing in the timeless Yoruba art of headwrap styling. My passion lies in styling brides for one of the most memorable days of their lives, creating elegant looks that celebrate both culture and individuality. Over the years, I have built a reputation for excellence within the wedding industry, earning the trust of brides who value artistry and attention to detail. What truly sets my work apart is my commitment to ensuring that every gele is thoughtfully designed to complement the unique features of the woman wearing it. To me, a beautifully styled gele is more than an accessory it is a statement of confidence, heritage and grace.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I look forward to collaborating with bridal designers, makeup artists, photographers, event planners, and fashion brands that share a passion for excellence and culture. With the right partnerships and support, my goal is to elevate the art of gele styling, celebrate African heritage, and expand the brand’s reach to a global audience.
