Today we’d like to introduce you to Jadyn Shea.
Hi Jadyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my photography business when I was 18 after realizing the career path I originally planned wasn’t going to work with my college schedule. I was studying marine biology, but I had always loved photography, so I decided to take a chance and turn it into something real. I honestly never expected it to grow the way it has.
Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph everything from couples and brands to luxury weddings, and I’ve built a business that lets me be creative while connecting with some of the kindest people. One of the biggest moments for me was photographing my first destination wedding in Nevada for Scott and Paige from Stick Figure. It was one of those experiences where I had to stop and think, “How is this actually my job?” Being trusted to document such an intimate day for people I genuinely admire is something I’ll never take for granted.
Alongside photography, I’ve also grown into creating UGC and brand content, which has been such a fun extension of what I do. I love telling stories through both photos and video, whether it’s for a couple on their wedding day or a brand trying to connect with its audience.
I’m still learning every day, and I feel like I’m only getting started. Looking back at where I began compared to where I am now is surreal, and I’m really excited to see where this journey takes me next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. Like most small business owners, there have been a lot of ups and downs. In the beginning, I was figuring everything out on my own, how to find clients, price my work, run a business, and still balance being a full-time college student. There were times I questioned if I was good enough or if I’d ever make photography into a full-time career.
One of the biggest challenges has been learning not to compare myself to other photographers. Social media can make it look like everyone else is booking dream weddings and growing overnight, but behind the scenes, there’s a lot of hard work that people don’t see. I’ve learned to focus on my own journey instead of trying to keep up with everyone else.
Looking back, I’m actually grateful for those challenges because they’ve made me more confident, more resilient, and have taught me that growth doesn’t happen overnight. Every setback has helped shape the business I have today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in storytelling through photography and content creation. Weddings are my biggest passion because I love capturing real, emotional moments that people get to relive for the rest of their lives. My style is true-to-life, timeless, and focused on genuine connection rather than overly posed images.
Outside of weddings, I also work with brands creating both photography and UGC, helping businesses tell their story through authentic, high-quality content. I love blending creativity with strategy to create content that not only looks beautiful but also connects with people.
One thing that makes my work a little different is the variety of experiences I’ve had. I’ve photographed destination weddings, luxury events, concerts, and even sharks underwater. Whether I’m documenting a couple’s wedding day, standing in a photo pit at a concert, or free diving to photograph marine life, I love putting myself in unique environments and finding creative ways to tell a story. Every project teaches me something new.
What I’m most proud of is building a business that’s opened doors I never imagined. From photographing my first destination wedding for Stick Figure to working with brands I genuinely admire, every opportunity has come from staying consistent, continuing to learn, and creating work that feels authentic to me.
I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the people and brands I work with. I want my clients to feel comfortable, enjoy the experience, and walk away with photos or content that actually feels like them. At the end of the day, creating meaningful experiences is just as important to me as creating beautiful images.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of my favorite things about our city is how much natural beauty there is. Being close to the water has always inspired me, and I love that I can go from photographing a beach sunset to exploring local coffee shops, small businesses, or community events all in the same day. There’s also a really supportive creative community, and I’ve met so many incredible people through photography.
If I had to pick one thing I like least, it would probably be how fast it’s growing. While it’s exciting to see new opportunities, it also means more traffic, busier beaches, and some of the charm of the area can get lost. That said, I still think it’s an amazing place to live and create, and I feel lucky to have always call it home.
