Exploring Life & Business with Desiree Davis of Expanding Territories LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Davis.

Hi Desiree, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve come to consider myself a “Community Educator” due to working in my family’s business located in South Florida since age 12. I was born and raised in Perrine, Florida, a neighborhood located in South Miami-Dade, where I spent the majority of my adult life and my husband Timothy and I raised our three children. With our “corner store” becoming a staple to the community it was second nature for me to be engaged in my surroundings via employment, education, outreach, and civic engagement to support a positive community. I worked consistently in the family business for 30 years, full or part-time and ventured out in between to shape my own career which has helped me be a well-rounded individual for serving and mentoring others.
Moving to Jacksonville 10 years ago has allowed me to envelope all my talents into one and chart a new course. My past careers in the banking, insurance, and education professions led me to create my company Expanding Territories LLC providing consulting services in all those areas. Speaking of “Hidden Gems”, I consider Jacksonville to be a “Hidden Gem” I have always traveled through this city even as a little girl but never considered it home. Now that I’m here it feels this is where I’ve always meant to be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road. You will always hear it’s not easy working with family; well, it’s even harder working with a parent. The struggle was having a vision for change and taking ownership of an idea and a parent not providing full support for growth. Knowing all along your parent loves you, it still feels like your talents are not valued to the full extent to allow the room to grow and become a subsidiary of the foundation.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Expanding Territories, LLC is in its infancy but was created to encompass what I have been doing for individuals and companies over the past 40 years. One way Expanding Territories has been a change agent over the past year is along beside my siblings through our company Bell-Alexander Enterprise for Land and Legacy where we have been conducting impactful homestead property workshops. Recently there has been a focus on the education of Heirs’ Property and our workshops answer that call. We “empower families to unlock the full potential of their land- preserving its value, purpose, and power for generations to come”. We are currently servicing South and Central Florida families and looking forward to further expansion. I’m most proud about the fact that when an individual leaves our Lady Birds for Legacy Lady Bird Deed Workshop (in person or virtual) they have a thorough understanding of the information, their questions have been answered, and they leave with a transaction completed “the Impact” to secure a future for their family and knowledge about their property.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Jacksonville is a city I’ve grown to love because it feels like I’m always on vacation. We’ve actually cut a vacation stay short to return home and enjoy the restaurants and beaches here! What I like least are the limited choices for middle and high school students.
