Today we’d like to introduce you to David Pere.
Hi David, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Arkansas and joined the Marine Corps shortly after high school. Like many young service members, I didn’t have a strong financial education, and for years I followed the traditional path—work hard, save what I could, and hope everything worked out. Along the way, I realized that hard work alone wasn’t enough. I needed to learn how money, investing, and wealth-building actually worked.
In 2015, while still serving in the Marines, I purchased my first duplex using a VA loan. At the time, I was far from wealthy and had plenty of doubts, but that one decision changed the trajectory of my life. I became fascinated with real estate investing and spent every spare moment learning, networking, and taking action. Over the next several years, I built a real estate portfolio that eventually grew to more than 100 rental units and allowed me to achieve financial freedom while still in my 30s.
As my investing journey progressed, I noticed that many service members and veterans were facing the same challenges I had faced—limited financial education, uncertainty about military benefits, and a lack of access to mentors who truly understood their unique circumstances. What started as casual conversations and advice in military Facebook groups eventually grew into *From Military to Millionaire*, a community dedicated to helping service members and veterans build wealth through real estate, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Today, *From Military to Millionaire* has become one of the largest military investing communities in the world. Through our podcast, social media platforms, events, coaching programs, and mastermind community, we’ve helped thousands of military members and veterans take control of their finances and pursue financial freedom on their own terms.
Looking back, my journey has never really been about real estate. Real estate was simply the vehicle. The bigger mission has always been helping people realize that their background doesn’t determine their future. Whether you’re a young Marine, a struggling investor, or someone starting over, you can build an extraordinary life if you’re willing to learn, take action, and stay persistent when things get difficult.
That mission continues to drive everything I do today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Entrepreneurship has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, but it’s also been one of the hardest.
In the beginning, the challenge was getting started. When I bought my first duplex while serving in the Marines, I didn’t have a blueprint for success. I was figuring things out as I went, making mistakes, and trying to build something different from what most people around me were doing. Like many entrepreneurs, I dealt with plenty of skepticism. People questioned why I was spending so much time on real estate, building businesses, and pursuing goals that seemed unrealistic to them. There is definitely a “crabs in a bucket” mentality that shows up when you start doing something outside the norm.
Then there are the internal challenges. Imposter syndrome is real. As your business grows, you’re constantly stepping into situations you’ve never faced before. One year you’re trying to buy your first investment property, and a few years later you’re leading teams, managing millions of dollars in assets, hosting events, and influencing thousands of people. Growth requires continually becoming a different version of yourself.
The interesting thing is that the challenges change as you become more successful. Early on, people tell you that you’re crazy, that it won’t work, and that you should play it safe. Then, if you succeed, many of those same people suddenly say you got lucky. Some start reaching out only when they need something, want an introduction, or are looking for an opportunity. That’s a strange transition that nobody really prepares you for.
I’ve also experienced the less glamorous side of entrepreneurship. In real estate, I’ve dealt with lawsuits and disputes that come with operating at scale. Thankfully, we’ve prevailed in every case, but those experiences taught me that business isn’t just about finding opportunities—it’s also about learning how to navigate challenges, manage risk, and stay focused when things get difficult.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change any of it. The obstacles, setbacks, and uncomfortable growth periods taught me far more than the successes ever did. Entrepreneurship isn’t a smooth road, but that’s exactly what makes it worthwhile. Every challenge forced me to become a better leader, investor, and person, and those lessons continue to shape who I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the founder of *From Military to Millionaire*, a financial education and investing platform dedicated to helping service members, veterans, and military families build wealth and achieve financial freedom.
What started as sharing my own journey of buying a duplex while serving in the Marine Corps has grown into one of the largest military investing communities in the world. Through our podcast, YouTube channel, social media platforms, events, educational programs, and mastermind community, we’ve helped thousands of military members learn how to use the benefits they’ve earned to create opportunities for themselves and their families.
While real estate investing is a major focus, our mission is much bigger than real estate. We help people develop the financial knowledge, mindset, and network they need to create long-term success. Whether that’s through investing, entrepreneurship, leadership development, or simply learning how to make smarter financial decisions, our goal is to help people take ownership of their future.
What sets us apart is authenticity. Everything we teach comes from real-world experience, not theory. I’ve personally gone from being a young Marine with very little financial knowledge to building a real estate portfolio of more than 100 units, achieving financial freedom, and transitioning out of the military. Our team and community are filled with people who are actively doing the things we teach, which creates a level of trust and credibility that is hard to replicate.
Another thing that makes us unique is the strength of our community. We don’t just provide information—we create connections. Many of our members have found business partners, lifelong friends, mentors, investment opportunities, and even career opportunities through the relationships they’ve built within our network. In a world full of online courses and social media influencers, we believe community is one of the most valuable assets a person can have.
What I’m most proud of isn’t the number of rental units I’ve owned or the size of the business. It’s the impact. Over the years, we’ve received countless messages from service members and veterans who paid off debt, bought their first home, purchased their first investment property, launched a business, or completely changed the trajectory of their family’s future because of something they learned through our community.
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s that financial freedom isn’t reserved for a select few. Most people are far more capable than they realize. With the right education, support, and willingness to take action, it’s possible to build a life that provides both financial security and personal fulfillment. That’s the mission that drives everything we do at From Military to Millionaire.
How do you define success?
Time Freedom.
The ability to work on what I want, when I want, and from Where I want.
i.e. I can tell my team I am leaving the country in 2-days, and things will continue operating smoothly.
