Check Out Adrian “Asia” Petty’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian “Asia” Petty.

Hi Adrian “Asia”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Jericho Projects has been publishing since 2001 when its initial presence was made known with the comic book, Teshuvah, Prophets of Jah. After below modest returns, Director Adrian “Asia” Petty went through a self imposed hiatus suggested by Lady Death creator, Brian Pulido. Adrian returned in late 2008 with the preview issue of the genre blending and audacious quasi super hero narrative, Ms. Johnni. Since then, Ms. Johnni has captured the interest of fans and critics alike with its introspective look on the main character in search of her missing daughter.

During this task, Adrian has had the honor of working with many talented people. This list includes Javier Lugo, artist of Frank Ng-Hired Gun, a bestselling book on www.comixpress.com and inker Joe Rubinstein, who many credits include, Superman, Batman and the Uncanny X-Men. Rebecca Fedun, an incredibly talented artist from Savannah School of Art and Design is handling pencils and inks. Long time friend and associate, Sherrie Hunt, is covering the duties of creative consultant, colorist and graphic artist. Others who have lent a hand on production include artist and inker Donté K. Hayes, artists Geoffrey Gwin, Marcel Zero, Florencio Duyar III and Buddy Prince.

See for yourself why www.pullbox.com said “Ms. Johnni offers a fresh take on the genre.”

In June 2020, Jericho Projects partnered with publisher Markosia Enterprises in London and published it’s first graphic novel, Appalachian Assassin. This task involved Sherrie Hunt on colors, Carl Embalzado on pencil and inks, Summer Dale as digital cover artist, Chuck Pineau as editor. Taylor Ladika and Indigo Jones offered cosplay services.

This 100 page book details the story of Jessie English, a southern bred special forces soldier, returns home from a mission after being left for dead. He sets out to create an unexpected weapon against his betrayer by marrying and reshaping a cancer riddled and abused young woman from a Tennessee holler named Jo Betty Morrow into an elite assassin.

Appalachian Assassin is available on Amazon, Kindle, DriveThrucomics, Foyles and Waterstone

In 2023, we incorporated under the name of JP Multimedia Studios, Inc. while doing business as Jericho Projects. We are currently in production on a follow up to Appalachian Assassin.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, there have been challenges.

Our first run of Teshuvah didn’t catch on and we learned some hard lessons. We also gained some good advice from Brian Pulido and used that to reform ourselves. Ms Johnni was the first title that caught people’s attention. Our first full graphic novel “Appalachian Assassin” was rejected by 13 different publishers before being picked up by Markosia. And one book at a time, by brick and mortar store, online and through conventions, we have made a mark in the indie comic world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are an independent comic book publisher that specializes in super hero, fantasy and supernatural tales with a cast of multi ethic characters. We are proud of getting “Appalachian Assassin” in online public libraries across the country and the world.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I have lived by three basic rules:
1. Set your goals.
2. Learn from your mistakes.
3. Stay disciplined and don’t quit.
