Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Bynum.
Hi Kathryn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Concrete & Palm was founded in 2021 by Kathryn Bynum. As a serial entrepreneur, she brings over 14 years of hands-on business experience to every client partnership. As a Marine Corps veteran, she brings strategic discipline to marketing, backed by a Certificate in Marketing Management and Digital Strategy and a Masters in Management from Harvard Extension School. She doesn’t just study business theory, she lives it, building companies and testing strategies in real time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is an intense journey of personal development. In 2024, the business was struggling. We were undercharging, had a book of less-than-ideal clients, payroll was tight, and we almost shut the business down. As a founder, I reached out to my community and quickly found myself without any support. It was a huge wakeup call. I slowed the business down, let go of most of my team, and spent six months battling burnout, working on myself, and rebuilding Concrete & Palm. We are now thriving, with an excellent team, and I’m continuing my focus on personal growth to ensure I am not the limiting factor for my business.
